This is not rant or complaint, just some memories from the past, but I didn't know where to post it, so here it is.
As I've said so many times in my posts over the years, Hive has taught me so much that I can't even begin to tell you. The whole journey started with the purpose of practicing English and sharing my photos, but no journey is a straight line and mine has not been either. There's so much motivation here that it's impossible not to learn or not to try out new things, learn new skills. If you're open minded and are not here just to abuse and milk, then this is a great source of motivation.
One of the skills I've learnt here is drawing. Ok, I wouldn't call it skill as I am still as untalented as I was before registering to Hive, but that's besides the point.
Looking back and going through these memories made me smile. Knowing I have zero talent in drawing or painting made it easy as with this fact in mind, I had no expectation and knew I can only do as much and every drawing was a lot of fun. I remember laughing so many times on how terrible my drawings were and this made it enjoyable. No expectation leads to no failure and no pressure, so the whole journey can only be easy and funny.
Back in 2018, on the legacy chain, we had a lot of drawing contests and I made sure to take part of a lot of them. I was asked to judge some of the editions and also won some of them. Needless to say I wasn't the judge in those as otherwise it would have been conflict of interest. It wasn't about the prize, I don't even remember how much those prizes were, it was just for fun.
Back then I wish I would have a drawing tablet, but I didn't. It wasn't because I could not afford it, but because I didn't think I would use it to worth it. Today I have one and know exactly what my goals are.
Yesterday I took out a part of the drawings and was amazed how many usable ideas I had those days and thought I could use some, transfer the designs to digital support and create something out of them. This idea has been in my head ever since I bought my drawing tablet and the time has come to make it happen.
Today I'm going to show you some of my drawings and tell the stories that come with them. Let's have some fun, shall we?
This drawing is called the pumpkin seller and it is from October 2022. It's a watercolor collage, as the pumpkins are glued to the main paper. Now looking at it, looks really childish 😂 (all of my drawings are by the way) and I see I could do better. I'm glad though, that I can see how to get something out of it.
This is from the 13th of March 2018, two months after I registered to the legacy chain. It's not something unique, not exceptional, but can be used to make something good out of it.
This one has a nice story. It is from the 25th March, 2018 and was my entry for a contest organized by a Hungarian artist, who's not active anymore. The topic was "The Attic" or at the attic, something like that and I remember I had to watch tutorial videos to see how to draw an attic. There are certain rules you have to follow, which I need to rewatch. I remember I made it simple, most likely it fits the "imature category", like an illustration in a story book for kids. I hope it makes you smile 😂 because I had a lot of fun drawing it.
March 27, 2018. This was also part of a contest, but it wasn't a simple contest. We had a user on the legacy chain, the contest organizer, who gave us the initial drawing, which was basically a few lines connected, nothing that made sense and everyone had to use it as a start, then create something out of it. I think the initial drawing was a part of the pepper, so here it is, my Mexican chilly gardener pepper.
March 28, 2018. Looks like I made a few drawings per week back then. This was a joke really, as a kindergarten kid can draw better, but I had a lot of fun. It was for a contest and the description clearly said, "make it fun" as they were not looking for the next Picasso. So I made it fun 🤣
This is a drawing I started years ago and never finished it. I love parsley pattern, which I love a lot, but it's just a sketch and a lot more needed here.

Day 8 - Inktober - Frail
I love INKTOBER and did a few days two years in a row but never did a whole month. Back in those days some curation projects were curating the good entries. I remember I was at my dad's when I made this and had like 20 - 25 minutes do make it as we were busy cleaning the garden all day.
Day 7 - Inktober - Enchanted
An idea, a sketch, never finished it.
This was a lot of fun, I laughed a lot during drawing it. I can't remember which it was, but one of the communities had a challenge, according to which you had to draw what you were doing, or your hobby, or something like that.
What you see here is me recycling jeans to made denim bags 🤣. A caricature honestly, a funny one.
Another sketch, never finished. I could make it more realistic, in 3D view.
April 9, 2018
This was a funny one. Part of the drawing was given, the wings or the bee I guess and the rest was up to us. I won the contest with this one and everyone was laughing at the "Honey Hotel", me included 🤣.
I loved these times, we could do a lot of stupid things and had a lot of fun. No Picasso was discovered, but it give me the necessary push to start drawing.
I made a lot of stupid drawings for fun, then I started practicing based on YouTube tutorials, like these two.
Looking back, I see the huge mistakes now, but again, those were for fun, I had no serious intentions about anything. We had a lot of fun when the entries were posted and that was all that mattered. Things have changed since then, or I have changed, or both.
