For most of Wrestling fans all over the world, the man in the thumbnail don´t need any presentation, because until 21th of June of 2007; this man was considered one of the most respected athletes in his profession.
His accolades all over the world(WWE World Heavyweight Champion,WCW Champion, Royal Rumble Winner, and much more) and his wrestling style that made him have must-watch classics with other greats like Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Triple H or Shawn Michaels made him have an Overall Career to make him being considered one of the best wrestlers all-time.
All the thing I mentioned before were all taken away by the horrific decisions he took by murdering her wife and son, to finally commit suicide on June 24th 2007. There are a lot of theories that talk of a conspiration to kill him and his family, but I do not believe those are realistic.
I am a Wrestling fan since I am a child and I know and saw how the impact of this case changed the business forever: no more chair shots to the head, more control over the use of drugs, the Diving Headbutt banned, and mainly the censorship over the image of Benoit.
For example, by looking at this tweet made by Warge in 2019
Saying all this, I want to share my opinion about how I remember the career of Chris Benoit:
He won´t be considered for the WWE Hall of Fame despite him being an important part of the company from 2000 to 2004. The company had backlash with the public before with other legends like Hulk Hogan(Racism), Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka (the murder of Nancy Argentino) or Pat Patterson (allegation of sexual abuse of ring boys) and they want to avoid more trouble.
He is a murderer, and by the passing of time we discover more disturbing details about his personal life. He is my favorite wrestler all time and I consider that his legacy in the ring should be considered one of the greatest, but he wasn´t a wonderful human being. He is the responsible of taking two lives despite all the brain damage and years of abuse of steroids that declined his health.
Now I want to ask the opinion of other people about the career of Chris Benoit. How people should remember him?
