I am here to really rant. First of all I want to say that as humans, we have the right to live and breath fresh air. At least, fresh air is a free gift given to us by God. What baffles me is how a fellow human will want to make life unbearable for people. I don't know if it is out of selfishness or wickedness.
So for some months now, my neighborhood has been filled with trash. In fact all over the state is filled with garbages littered on every street. And I am asking why? A lot of persons have been calling on radio stations, pleading with the state government to do something as regards the way the state currently is. Anyone living in portharcourt currently will attest to the height of dirtiness of the state.
This is a state which is known as the "Garden city state". Years ago, we use to see lots of foreigners who use to come here and do their business, have fun and even stay as much as they want because the state was so beautiful. It is a pity that a lot of things have gone wrong and it is a shameful thing.
The pictures shows the current situation of the state. So dirty. A memo was sent by the state government on the reshuffling of the agency in charge of packing the trash all over the state. This was sometime in April. We were excited that at least we can breath freely. But to my surprise the state is still in a mess.
Shops are being closed and their money for rent is burning because whether you sell or not, at the end of the year, the landlord will come knocking for his rent. But do you expect people to sell in this kind of environment? Some people who have the mind to inhale the bad air still open their shops. I am not sure they know the health implication of this hazard. It is so crazy out here I tell you.
The dirties are gradually entering the road and no one cares. To even add to it, our state governor is running around contesting to be the president of my country. Will you not build your home and put it in order first before going outside? Is it not the right thing to do? I am baffled at how our leaders are so cool knowing fully well that their subordinates are going through a lot. They don't all seem to care about the masses. I guess its because they move around with their choppers and don't see this. Or maybe because they are just heartless and do not care a dime. It is the raining season and imagine how it is when the rain falls on all of these garbage. An eyesore it is if you ask me.
The elections are coming up next year 2023. I pray that we get to elect leaders who will not come into power to just steal our funds and do nothing for us. We need good roads, electricity, we need to sleep with our eyes closed without always thinking about the insecurity in the country.
I have gotten my permanent Voters Card. I am ready to vote for credible leaders come 2023.
