I'm only 9 straight posts away from finally doing one post everyday in a month. And now more that ever I could really use a break. Talk about bad timing! My house is a mess, and I have a bit too much on my plate to deal with right now. It is nothing new of course, it has become a pattern of sorts. Every few months I will suddenly have a lot on my plate and historically I have used that as an excuse to take a "short" break from posting on hive. Let me tell you, none of those breaks were "short" and are the core reason why I haven't taken my Hive Power to the levels I should have after being on the chain for five years.
So while I could really use a break, I am not going to take one. Because one break in streak is all it takes, I don't feel like jinxing my streak just yet! My thoughts are quite scrambled right now, so it is highly likely this post will be all over the place and make little sense to many. But that's okay, a lot of stuff in life don't make sense and they happen anyway. Hence, this post is going to happen anyway whether it makes sense or not.
Head clerk gave me a fantastic snap yesterday to use in one of my posts. I was thinking of using it today but I am not sure if this post would do justice to that image. We'll see I guess.
I was walking back home this evening after getting some barbeque chicken for dinner and I was looking at the decorations with flags and confetti that were put up just before the world cup began. No one is in any rush to take them down and these usually stay up for a couple more weeks or so. This time though I suspect the flags will stay up a bit longer, especially the sky blue ones 😉
Although this world cup brought immense satisfaction as a fan, I started to feel a bit hollow inside. It was quite depressing. How am I supposed to go back to watching Liverpool vs Southampton, or Barcelona vs Elche and similar caliber of games week in week out after what we just saw in the world cup! This is going to be quite the downgrade. For seasonal fans, this is no big deal, they will miss the world cup for a week at max and then forget it ever happened until 4 years later.
But the prospect for those of us who watch football on a regular basis is quite gloomy. We may have lost some of our ability to enjoy football matches for some time to come! After such an emotional ride for about a month, it is probably normal to have our emotions numbed a bit. The next football match I am really looking forward to is Liverpool vs Real Madrid in the round of 16 in the Champions League and that's not until late February. It is going to be a long winter!
For all the praise I have showered over this world cup, it may actually have ruined some of us for a long, long time!
