Shopping for foodstuff in Nigeria involves going to the market in order to get fresh. It is better to go to a big open and local markets when you want to get foodstuffs like vegetables, tomatoes, pepper and so. This is so because you are guaranteed that they are fresh and no chemicals was used to preserve so they can stay longer on shelves like in most supermarket. Again it is somewhat cheaper to get as you have a variety of options to choose from In a local market.
For instance, recently I went to the market to get foodstuffs and restock the house with soups and stew. On getting to the market I found out that tomatoes was quite expensive and it was very small in portion. The first person I encountered was selling 8 balls of tomatoes for #500, I wasnt satisfied so I left to look for better options. Lol and behold when I went further into the market, I saw better options for that same price. So in view, I prefer shopping in the markets, because if you don't like option A, there would be another option.
This local market, you get varieties of different foodstuffs. And the opportunity to choose the best for you
In Nigeria, we have large markets where foods are sold in large quantities. Also, there are different types of market, for example in Lagos, they have the market you go for to buy different types of fresh fishes, there is another one for tomatoes and pepper and so on. In these places, people come to buy to take to smaller markets and it is cheaper and affordable.
When shopping for veggies, I prefer them fresh and clean. Some vegetables that are not fresh end up messing with the delicacy you are trying you are trying to prepare.
In other words, shopping at the local markets is the best deal you can get from vegetables, fruits, beef and all.
