Hi! In connection to a blog I did before, here is the continuation of canvassing tiles for my aunt's house. It is really hard to build a house because it requires much planning and effort.
In order to save money, we needed to check out different hardware/construction supply stores. One of the biggest stores here in the Philippines is Wilcon Depot. They are known to have a wide range of home improvements, construction supplies, and equipment.
I thank #MarketFriday by @dswigle because I can share my shopping experience! 😊
The last time we went to a tile shop was in this blog. It was a small tile shop so, there is a small variety of choices. Though small, their prices are cheaper.
By the way, this shopping trip was around September of last year.
So, we got ready to head to Wilcon Depot on a weekend. The shop opens at 8:00 AM. We agreed to come a little late so that we can have our lunch in the area later.
It was so hot outside plus we were wearing masks. It was hard to breathe. They still require wearing masks and to sanitize hands before entering the building. I ain't no complaining, though. It was for the safety of everyone.
Inside of the store, there are boxes and boxes of tiles. It is never ending. All are displayed in different colors, sizes, textures, and quality. The shop is well lit and airconditioned, so that's a plus for me! The Philippines is so humid and having an AC is a lifesaver here.
I am so shy to take pictures of everything, so I just told to the saleslady that I will send the pictures to someone for reference. 🤣
These tiles are for both indoors and outdoors. What is your bet? Mine is the white bricks. Half of the tile was painted with a wet-like gloss to compare colors and texture. This is just one tile and so, it is easy to install. Per tile, the price is PHP 1,200 - PHP 1,800 (USD 21.81 - USD 32.72).
This is a nice tile. I can imagine this putting in the kitchen. I do not find the design confusing, but rather it is well-balanced. Too bad I did not take a picture of the price. :(
I believe these are for the bathroom. I am not really knowledgeable on house improvements, haha, so I am just guessing here. These tiles have geometrical patterns and styles. What I have researched about sizes of tile is that smaller tiles are better for the bathroom because it is less slippery. More grouts mean breaking the smooth surface of the tiles. This is best when living with kids or elders. Per box of tile is PHP 1982 (USD 36.03). Per box is 10 tiles.
These are vinyl planks made of premium plastic. According to the saleslady, these vinyl planks are water-resistant, easy to install, and you do not need to worry about the termites. It comes with different colors too. If I were to buy, I will choose the dark brown. It is a classic color and easy to match colors with the room. Per box cost PHP 3409 (USD 61.98). Per box has 10 vinyl planks. Also, it comes with a 10 year warranty.
Backsplash tiles for the kitchen! The best design for me is the marble. For me, the marble design is elegant and classic. Cannot wait to own a house, hehe! Per box costs PHP 858 (USD 15.6).
Clasic tile colors for your floor. I think you will never go wrong with shades of white and brown. These colors are super neutral that it is so easy to match colors with the room. On the left picture, my aunt got 10 boxes. So, one box is PHP 1982 (USD 36.03) times 10 equals PHP 19820 (USD 360.36). I forgot how many sq meters is her room, but she said it should be enough with extra tiles if ever someone messed it up.
Outdoor bricks! It is nice that there is a provided care and maintenance for the customers. Usually, I see these in gardens or backyards. Ahh~ nice to have lots of money and decorate your own house, haha!
We went home at around 3 in the afternoon. It was overwhelming, so many tiles to choose from. Along the way, we learned something about tiles and home improvements. This is not the last shopping trip for construction, that is for sure. Building a house is both a joy and a headache. haha!
That is it for this blog. I will see you at the next one!
