Today, I finally took the bold step of closing the chapter on purchasing a new television set.
But guess what? Once again, I was disappointed by my eagerness to seal the deal online, even after spending several days surfing various online marketplaces!
I don’t know if this feeling is peculiar to me, but as excited as I always get about shopping online, I somehow do the opposite.
This isn’t the first time it has happened, and I’ve realised that despite the growing popularity and convenience of online shopping, I still have a subtle skepticism about it.
If I’m being honest, I think it stems from the fear of receiving something different from what I ordered, or worse, enduring that endless wait for delivery only to end up disappointed.
So, after convincing myself that I was finally ready to buy my new TV online, I suddenly changed my mind earlier today. Unplanned, I decided to hit the stores for some physical shopping and trust me, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
It was the perfect Friday afternoon outing for someone like me who enjoys window shopping. I got the chance to explore, compare, and even sample prices for other home appliances I hope to buy shortly.
However, with inflation hitting Nigeria these days, prices change almost daily!
After about three hours of visiting different shops and comparing prices, I finally got a great deal that fit perfectly into my budget. I bought a 32-inch smart TV and am so glad I did.
One of my biggest wins was discovering that prices in physical shops were significantly better than those I saw online. Plus, nothing beats seeing exactly what you're buying and having the freedom to negotiate, a luxury you rarely get with online shopping.
So, if you’ve ever felt the thrill of offline shopping or shared the same fears I have about ordering online, I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
Wishing you a blissful and fulfilling weekend!
