Hello friends of Hive, when it comes to robotics, concepts appear that may be scattered, not in accordance with their real meaning or are simply tied to a certain application and may become somewhat colloquial. However, there are international organizations that group together the meanings of different proponents and manage to unify them, even if they may have differences.
Hola amigos de Hive, cuando se aborda la Robótica aparecen conceptos que pueden estar dispersos, no estar acordes con su significado real o sencillamente están arrimadas a cierta aplicación y pueden llegar a ser un tanto coloquiales. No obstante, existen organizaciones internacionales que agrupan acepciones de diferentes proponentes logrando unificarlas, aun cuando pudieran tener divergencias.
We must also consider events that have happened and marked, the present and future in all its expressions.
También hay que considerar eventos que han sucedido y marcado, el presente y futuro la Robótica en todas sus expresiones.
Therefore, I present this post to contribute to the approach of such diverse readers to the formal vocabulary used in Robotics and to advance a little more in what is known as Industrial Robot and Service Robot.
Por tanto, presento este post para contribuir al acercamiento de tan variados lectores al vocabulario formal utilizado en Robótica y avanzar un poco más en lo que se conoce como Robot Industrial y Robot de Servicios.
Documents prepared by the [International Organization for Standardization] (https://www.iso.org/home.html) (ISO) and endorsed by the [International Federation of Robotics] (https://ifr.org/) (IFR).
Como base formal se utilizan documentos establecidos por la Organización de Normalización Internacional (ISO: International Organization for Standardization) y respaldados por la Federación Internacional de Robótica (IFR: International Federation of Robotics).
Did you know that since 1983 there have been Technical Committees responsible for these matters?
¿Usted sabía, que desde 1983 está un Comité Técnico responsabilizándose de éstos asuntos?
In 1983, ISO/TC 184/SC 2 started operating. That acronym stands for subcommittee SC 2 called "Robots for the manufacturing environment" under the ISO/TC 184 Technical Committee "Industrial Automation", its objective was to mandate work safety, vocabulary terms and performance.
En 1983, comenzó a funcionar la ISO/TC 184/SC 2. Esas siglas significan subcomité SC 2 llamado "Robots para el entorno de fabricación" que depende del Comité Técnico ISO/TC 184 "Automatización Industrial”, su objetivo fue ordenar lo referente con la seguridad en el trabajo, términos de vocabulario y rendimiento.
Then over the years, the title was updated to "Robots and robotic devices" to include not only industrial robots, but also non-industrial robots, which were defined as service robots in 2006. This resulted in ISO/TC 184/SC 2 being updated to ISO/TC 299 with the title "Robotics" in 2016.
Luego al pasar los años, el título se actualizó a "Robots y dispositivos robóticos" para incluir no sólo robots industriales, sino también robots no industriales, que fueron definidos como robots de servicio en 2006. Esto dio lugar que la ISO/TC 184/SC 2 se actualizara a ISO/TC 299 con el título de "Robótica" en el 2016.
ISO/TC 299 aims to foster the growth of the robotics market by introducing standards in fields such as terminology, performance measurement and modularity. Toys and military applications are excluded here.
La ISO/TC 299 tiene como objetivo fomentar el crecimiento del mercado robótico mediante la introducción de normas en campos como la terminología, la medición del rendimiento y la modularidad. Aquí se excluyen los juguetes y las aplicaciones militares.
These changes over the years have reflected the growth and expansion of standardization activities in the field of robotics.
Estos cambios a lo largo de los años han reflejado el aumento y la ampliación de las actividades de normalización en el campo de la robótica.
Let’s start with the Lead Thread of the ROBOT Definition.

The Standard ISO 8373:2012 specifies the vocabulary used in relation to robots and robotic devices operating in both industrial and non-industrial environments, grouped into clauses according to the main topics.
La Norma ISO 8373:2012 especifica el vocabulario utilizado en relación con robots y dispositivos robóticos que operan tanto en entornos industriales como no industriales, agrupados en cláusulas según los temas principales.
Now, to enter with the formality that the case deserves, let's place ourselves in the definition of ROBOT. This in turn, contains two (2) more, axis and autonomy:

In addition, clause 2.6 states two (2) notes, which lead us to the definitions of control system, industrial robot and service robot:

From each of the notes, new definitions that refer to clauses stand out. We observe that there is a multi and transdisciplinary integration of visible areas or specialties such as mechanics, control systems, instrumentation, computing, communication and informatics. Others, often hidden but with a high degree of intervention and materialization of applications, such as biology, health, social, etc.
De cada una de las notas se desprenden nuevas definiciones que hacen referencia a cláusulas, donde estas se destacan. Observamos que se van integrando multi y transdisciplinariamente, áreas o especialidades visibles como la mecánica, sistemas de control, instrumentación, computación, comunicación e informática. Otras, muchas veces ocultas pero con un alto grado intervención y materialización de aplicaciones como la biología, salud, sociales, etc.

Since its arrival in the 1950s, the Robot has made a long and successful journey, achieving a position at the top of the technology, which has led to internationally renowned companies investing a great deal of resources in Research and Development.
Desde su llegada en los años cincuenta, el Robot ha avanzado un largo y exitoso trayecto, logrando posicionarse en el tope tecnológico, lo que ha ocasionado que empresas de renombre internacional inviertan una gran cantidad de recursos en Investigación y Desarrollo.
The turning point of Robotics occurred in 1948 with George Devol (1912-2011) with the design of a digitally operated programmable robotic arm, patented under the name "Programmable Article Transfer", giving rise to the first Industrial Robot in history.
El punto de inflexión de la Robótica ocurre en 1948 con George Devol (1912-2011) con el diseño de un brazo robótico programable de funcionamiento digital, patentado bajo el nombre “Programmable Article Transfer”, dando origen al primer Robot Industrial de la historia.
In 1954, together with Joseph Engelberger (1925-2015) they created the first company to build Robots for Industrial Applications called Universal Automation Inc. (Unimation, Inc.), which produced the Unimate Robot #001.

At this point it is worth noting that Devol and Engelberger's line of action was to provide machines that could be adapted to the processes of an industry to speed up the work. One of their premises was the safety of the employees so as not to expose them to dangerous situations that are present in this type of activities.

The expansion of Industrial Robotics continued its growth and by the 1980s, the activity of Unimation began to gain interest and caused several companies to undertake their own developments, aided by advances in applied computing, control and instrumentation, which triggered the use of industrial robots, initiating the “era robotics”
La expansión de la Robótica Industrial siguió su crecimiento y para la década de los ochenta, la actividad de Unimation empezó a cobrar interés y provocó que diversas empresas emprendiesen sus propios desarrollos, asistidos por el avance en computación aplicada, control e instrumentación, lo cual disparó el uso de los robots industriales, iniciando la “era robótica”
Devol is credited with coining the term automation and revolutionizing current industrial and automotive manufacturing processes, along with Engelberger who came to establish Robotics in Human Services, in addition to being considered the father of robotics.
A Devol se le atribuye acuñar el término de automatización y a revolucionar los procesos actuales de fabricación industrial y automotriz, junto a Engelberger que llegó a establecer la Robótica en los Servicios Humanos, además de ser considerado como el padre de la Robótica.
Joseph Engelberger predicted that Service Robots would one day become the largest class of robotic applications, surpassing industrial uses, which is happening. This goes hand in hand with the different shapes, structures and application areas. In addition, their classification is given according to their personal or professional use.
Joseph Engelberger predijo que los Robots de Servicio algún día se convertirían en la clase más grande de aplicaciones robóticas, superando a los usos industriales, lo cual está pasando. Lo anterior, viene de la mano con las distintas formas, estructuras y áreas de aplicación. Además, su clasificación viene dada según su uso personal o profesional.
Machines that help or entertain man can be treated as their precursors. This is stated in clause 2.10 of ISO 8373:2012 in its Note 2, which states: “While articulated robots (3.15.5) used in production lines are industrial robots (2.9), similar articulated robots used for serving food are service robots (2.10) ”.
Las máquinas que ayudan o entretienen al ser humano pueden ser tratadas como sus precursoras. Así lo sostiene la cláusula 2.10 de la ISO 8373:2012 en su Nota 2, que expresa “Mientras que los robots articulados (3. 15. 5) utilizados en las líneas de producción son robots industriales (2. 9), los robots articulados similares utilizados para servir alimentos son robots de servicio (2. 10)”.
Of course, depending on the perspectives of resolution and integration of applications, Robots will be gaining ground and their collaboration is becoming increasingly evident.
Por supuesto que dependiendo de las perspectivas de resolución e integración de las aplicaciones, los Robots irán tomando terreno y su colaboración cada vez es evidente.

Friends of Hive, Robotics as a science and integrating others, allows us to open borders to and from other disciplines. Being informed of the organizations that lead this area is vital to staying up to date first hand.
Amigos de Hive, la Robótica como ciencia e integradora de otras, permite abrir fronteras hacia y desde otras disciplinas. Estar informados de las organizaciones que lideran esta área es vital para mantenerse actualizado de primera mano.
In this sense, ISO and IFR were taken as a basis, particularly the Standard ISO 8373:2012 from which the internationally accepted concepts are formally derived.
En este sentido, se tomaron como base la ISO y la IFR, particularmente la Norma ISO 8373:2012 de donde se desprenden formalmente los conceptos aceptados internacionalmente.
From a wide range of definitions, Robot, Industrial Robot and Service Robot were chosen, because I considered it prudent to go from the general to the particular, in order to unveil new meanings related to them.
De una amplia gama de definiciones, Robot, Robot Industrial y Robot de Servicios fueron los escogidos, porque consideré prudente ir de lo general a lo particular, para ir develando nuevas acepciones relacionadas con ellos.
In addition, Robot, Industrial Robot and Service Robot place us in events that have marked what is today and will be the future of Robotics in all its expressions.
Además, Robot, Robot Industrial y Robot de Servicios nos ubican en eventos que han marcado lo que es hoy y será el futuro de la Robótica en todas sus expresiones.
