A few months ago Google announced that its Sycamore quantum processor had achieved quantum supremacy, that is, that its quantum computer had performed a task that conventional computers could never achieve.
Hace unos meses Google anunciaba que su procesador cuántico Sycamore había logrado la supremacía cuántica, es decir, que su ordenador cuántico había realizado una tarea la cual los ordenadores convencionales no podrían conseguir jamás.
As you all know, the quantum computer is based on qubits, quantum bits capable of taking several values simultaneously, which makes it ideal for certain types of calculations that with a conventional computer it would be impossible to do even with the entire lifetime of the universe.
Como todos sabéis el ordenador cuántico está basado en qubits, bits cuánticos capaz de tomar varios valores simultáneamente, lo que lo hace ideal para cierto tipo de cálculos que con un ordenador convencional sería imposible hacer aún contando con todo el tiempo de vida del universo.
Although in reality not all the experts agreed that the feat was such because, according to them, the task carried out would have been possible to do with conventional computers, advances like this one that I show you today undoubtedly show the future of quantum computing.
Aunque en realidad no todos los expertos estaban de acuerdo en que la hazaña fuese tal pues, según ellos, la tarea realizada hubiese sido posible hacerla con ordenadores convencionales, avances como éste que os muestro hoy muestran indudablemente el futuro de la computación cuántica.

Until now these computers were more theory than anything else, unable to do anything beyond factoring some small numbers but now it seems that they are being given a utility by simulating the behavior of chemical reactions between molecules.
Hasta ahora estos ordenadores eran más teoría que otra cosa, incapaces de hacer nada más allá de factorizar algunos números pequeños pero ahora parece que se se le está dando una utilidad simulando el comportamiento de las reacciones químicas entre moléculas.
In this experiment, only 12 of the 53 qubits of the original model were used to simulate the behavior of a chain of 12 hydrogen atoms where each of the qubits would represent a single electron from each of these atoms.

After this, they emulated a chemical reaction of molecules that contained hydrogen and nitrogen to observe how the electronic structure of these molecules changes, which would help experts to understand how these chemical reactions work.

Chemical reactions are a good candidate for quantum computing since these are already reactions that have quantum behavior, so there is nothing better than a quantum computer to simulate their behavior.
Las reacciones químicas son un buen candidato para la computación cuántica puesto que éstas ya son reacciones que tienen un comportamiento cuántico por lo que nada mejor que un ordenador cuántico para simular su comportamiento.
Although at the moment the simulated reactions are so simple that they could even be done with classic computers, as they dominate the technology they will be able to simulate all the chemical reactions of our vital processes which will represent a great advance for the health sciences .
Si bien por el momento las reacciones simuladas son tan sencillas que incluso podrían hacerse con ordenadores clásicos, a medida que vayan dominando la tecnología serán capaces de simular todas las reacciones químicas de nuestros procesos vitales lo cual supondrá un gran avance para las ciencias de la salud.
