Imagine losing a hand and years later rediscovering the sense of touch through a prosthesis, that scene that was previously just fiction, now it is no longer, an American company based in San Diego, created something that can radically change the lives of amputees and also promote global robotics.

The Psyonic Ability Hand, a robotic hand capable of sensing the world around it with almost human precision and more, is already in the hands of human users, covered by the United States health system and was even used in NASA research, the ability Hand is equipped with sensors integrated into the tips of the fingers that detect even the slightest touch and transmit that to the user through vibrations in the arm.

With 32 different patterns

This system offers sensory feedback in real time, allowing the person to know exactly how much force they are applying and what type of object they are touching. It also has 32 different grip patterns, with 19 preconfigured, this allows the user to perform everything from delicate tasks such as picking up a grain of rice, to more functional movements such as holding a fragile glass or typing on the keyboard.

The hand is incredibly fast, it closes in just 200 milliseconds, which is faster than the blink of an eye, for a weight of only 490 grams, it is lighter than a typical human hand and its multi-articulated design allows independent movements of the fingers and double rotation of the thumb, providing firmness and naturalness in the gestures.

Each finger is built to resist impacts without breaking. Additionally, the prosthesis has water resistance with an IP64 rating, which guarantees its operation even in humid environments. Control of the hand can be done via Bluetooth with a cell phone application that allows remote adjustments by health professionals, adapting the experience to the needs of each user. The charging experience is another highlight with a USBC port. A full charge takes about an hour and lasts all day.
