Recuerdo que cuando estaba en el colegio, en una sola oportunidad nos correspondió escribir una historia relacionada al terror y mi temática fueron...bueno, ya saben, ¡los zombies! Aún recuerdo un poco el desarrollo de la historia y ¡vaya imaginación la mía! pero ok, este no es el punto. El punto de esta publicación es más bien participar en la iniciativa mensual de ZDE que tiene que ver con los (no) amigables muertos vivientes que ya llevan mucho tiempo siendo los protagonistas en la literatura de terror y también en la industria del cine.

Zombies have always been my favorite horror/science fiction figures in both movies and books. I remember when I was in high school, on one occasion we had to write a horror related story and my theme was...well, you know, zombies! I still remember a bit of the development of the story and what an imagination of mine, but ok, that's not the point. The point of this publication is rather to participate in ZDE's monthly initiative that has to do with the (un)friendly undead that have been the protagonists in horror literature and also in the movie industry for a long time now.

Creo que veo a muchos diariamente, como por ejemplo, ese amigo que presta más atención a su celular que a la conversación que estamos teniendo o aquellos que tienen un juicio tan nublado que se dejan llevar por las ideas y pensamientos de otros. Ante estos escenarios no hay mucho por hacer y lo que queda hacer es huir, así como huiría de un zombie comecerebros.
I think I see many on a daily basis, like for example, that friend who pays more attention to his cell phone than to the conversation we are having or those who have such clouded judgment that they get carried away by the ideas and thoughts of others. In the face of these scenarios there is not much to do and what is left to do is run away, just as I would run away from a brain eating zombie.

Si hablamos de un apocalipsis zombie al estilo de ciencia ficción, lo imaginaria como algo caótico, aunque eso sólo iría al inicio. Imagino personas corriendo de aquí para allá, angustiadas intentando salvar sus vidas mientras una horda de zombies van detrás de ellos en busca de alimento y, luego de un par de días, un silencio ensordecedor algo muy al estilo de la película Soy Leyenda. El virus zombie ya se habría esparcido por cada rincón en cuestión de días y sólo quedarían unos que otros humanos que intentan sobrevivir entre las sombras. Las ciudades simplemente parecerían pueblos fantasmas.
Ahora que redacto estas líneas, el "caos" y la ciudad sumergida en un silencio "ensordecedor" me hacen recordar un poco a los inicios de la cuarentena por COVID-19. Con esto nos quedó más que claro que la humanidad aún no está 100% preparada para un virus tan letal. Imaginemos ahora que existiese la posibilidad científica de que un zombie exista, un zombie comecerebros como los de Resident Evil y, por ende, la posibilidad de un apocalipsis de zombies comecerebros...la verdad, creo que los humanos se extinguirían por completo.
If we talk about a sci-fi style zombie apocalypse, I would imagine it as chaotic, although that would only go at the beginning. I imagine people running here and there, anxiously trying to save their lives while a horde of zombies go after them in search of food and, after a couple of days, a deafening silence very much in the style of the movie I Am Legend. The zombie virus would have already spread to every corner in a matter of days and there would only be a few humans left trying to survive in the shadows. The cities would simply look like ghost towns.
Now that I am writing these lines, the "chaos" and the city submerged in a "deafening" silence remind me a bit of the beginnings of the COVID-19 quarantine. This made it more than clear that humanity is not yet 100% prepared for such a lethal virus. Let's imagine now that there is a scientific possibility that a zombie exists, a brain-eating zombie like the ones in Resident Evil, and thus the possibility of a brain-eating zombie apocalypse...to tell you the truth, I think humans would become completely extinct.

Sí estuviese interpretando un personaje en un historia de ciencia ficción sobre zombies, pues simplemente creo que huiría. Sé que ese familiar o amigo que en algún momento tanto quise simplemente ya no está ahí, es su cuerpo, pero si espíritu o su esencia simplemente ha desaparecido y ahora más bien forma parte de un problema, pero aún así no pudiese eliminarlo pues creo que no tendría el valor necesario, aunque de forma contradictoria eso me llevé a pensar en que estoy dejando que si formando parte de un "problema" y, por tanto, ese problema siga incrementándose.
