Unlike dogs that are ecstatic and jumpy when they meet their owner after school or work, cats are unconcerned about you. They just go about their business and approach you only when they're hungry. It's like with dogs, you are the boss but with cats, you are the servant. That is why I used to care less about them, but everything changed when a stray cat whose owner had died made its way into our home.
FAMILY CENTER
When our kitchen was being renovated, I usually eat my food outside of the house. There was a stray cat standing on the floor looking at me and stares at my food every time I put it inside my mouth, so I fed her. We discovered that this cat belonged to a neighbor who had lately passed away, and that no one had looked after it. The cat keeps on coming back for a couple of weeks but we cannot keep her because my mom and my sister are allergic and sensitive to any sorts of fur due to asthma but this cat is quite consistent and appears to like us since it always caresses us using its head and tail, which is very lovely. Then we finally found out that this cat is pregnant so I named her "Mother Superior". Mother Superior has given birth to two adorable kittens (Elizabeth and Ming Ming) and after a couple of weeks she got pregnant AGAIN and gave birth to three little kittens (Madonna, Ungo, and Chu Mer Mer). I was astounded by how easily a cat may become pregnant when it had just given birth a month or two before (girl get some rest!). After several months, I noticed Mother Superior (again?) and her daughter were both pregnant at the same time. Oh Boy, What is going on with these cats? They multiply like a bacteria! hahaha. I wasn't mistaken when I named the cat Mother Superior; she is indeed superior when it comes to being a mother, having given birth three times in a year and a half. So Ungo gave birth to three kittens which are Pfizer, Sputnik, and Sinovac and Mother Superior gave birth to three kittens but only one survived which is the cutest Pon Pon. Currently, we have seven cats which are Mother Superior, Chu Mer Mer, Ungo, Pfizer, Sputnik, Sinovac, and Pon Pon. Since we lost 3 cats in a span of less than two years (Elizabeth, Ming Ming, and Madonna).
Yes, I realize these cats' family tree is rather complicated, and tracing back their lives in the last two years at 3 o'clock in the morning is giving me a headache hahahaha.
I just discovered on the internet that cats congregate around people's homes because they perceive your home to be a secure haven and the people around are providing their needs. In a nutshell, the cats are at ease in your home. Many people consider cats to be the grumpiest pets, but trust me when I say they are the sweetest. They are the most adorable when they sleep with their weird positions and I just love looking at them like I'm their mother hahaha. They truly like it when they are being touched as well. There are misconceptions about cats being so aggressive. Perhaps it all depends on how they are handled. They are being fed three times a day by my father and also being spoiled by my aunty as well. We also buy them medicines, flea powders, comb, and etc. If you treat them badly, they will not treat you badly in return; instead, they will stop showing up on you; but, if you treat them properly, they will undoubtedly return the affection. Cats can bite or scratch you unintentionally, and this only happens when they are terrified or unsafe (which are animals' nature), but they do not mean it.
And that is the story of how we went from no cats to lots of cats. I have a lot more stories about our dogs, fishes, and of course my father's other children (the roosters) soon!
