Story of how Sago came into my life | Historia de como Sago llego a mi vida [ENG|ESP]

Hello everyone, I hope you are very well, today I want to tell you how my Sago, or as I call him, my baby, came to brighten my life.
Since I was a little girl I always liked animals, all the walks or places where I could be in contact with them were the best for me. I always asked my mom to give me a puppy, she always refused, she doesn't like animals like me, I think I inherited this taste from my dad, who rescued every helpless animal he saw, the one who didn't kill the insects in the house, but took a glass, caught them and released them in nature.

Hola a todos espero se encuentre muy bien, hoy quiero contarles como llego mi Sago, o como le digo yo, mi bebe a iluminar mi vida.
Desde que era una niña siempre me gustaron los animales, todos los paseos o lugares donde pudiera estar en contacto con ellos para mí, eran los mejores. Siempre le pedía a mi mamá que me regalara un perrito, ella siempre se negó, no le gustan los animales como a mí. Creo que este gusto lo herede de mi papá, el cual rescataba a cuanto animalito desamparado veía, el que no mataba los insectos de la casa, si no que tomaba un vaso, los atrapaba y los liberaba en la naturaleza.

When I was a few days old, my mother took me to an aunt who had a dog. The curious little dog jumped into the basket to see me, my mom says that was my first contact and that's why I like animals so much, which makes me laugh, but she was terrified at the time. When I was 5 years old I made my first attempt, I asked my mom to give me a puppy as a favor, and I made the pertinent promises: I swear I will take care of it, I swear I will love it, I swear I will clean everything I do. None of this worked, the answer was negative, there was no power, no pleading that could change her mind.

Con días de nacida, mi mamá me llevó a donde una tía, la cual tenía un perro. El perrito curioso saltaba a la canastilla para verme, mi mamá dice que ese fue mi primer contacto y que por eso me gustan tanto los animales, lo que me causa mucha risa, pero a ella le causó terror en el momento. A los 5 años hice mi primer intento, le pedí de favor a mi mamá que me regalara un perrito, y realice las promesas pertinentes: te juro que lo voy a cuidar, te juro que lo voy a querer, te juro que voy a limpiar todo lo que haga. Nada de esto funcionó, la respuesta fue negativa, no hubo poder, ni suplica que pudiera cambiar su opinión.

Then when I was 9 years old, I tried again, this time the answer was different: I gave it to you the day of your first communion, the emotion did not fit in my chest, finally the moment had arrived. As you can imagine, the day arrived, but the puppy did not. I kept growing, ironically I had other pets, fish, birds, chicks, roosters (yes in the apartment I had chickens and chicks hehehehe). I rescued kittens from the street, my dad looked for a home for them and after that, I never saw them again. Once again I tried to ask my mom for a puppy, once again she assured me that when I graduated from college (yes college, I was already an adult, but I lived with my parents and those were their rules). The day came and with it another disappointment because the promise was not fulfilled.

Luego a los 9 años, lo volví a intentar, esta vez la respuesta fue diferente: te lo regalo el día de tu primera comunión, la emoción no me cabía en el pecho, por fin había llegado el momento. Como se imaginaran llegó el día, pero el perrito no. Seguía creciendo, irónicamente tuve otras mascotas, peces, pájaros, pollitos, gallos (si en el apartamento tenia gallinas y pollitos jejeje). Rescate gaticos en la calle, mi papá les buscaba casa y después de eso no los volvía a ver. Una vez más intente pedirle a mi mamá un perrito, una vez mas me aseguró que cuando me graduara de la universidad (si de la universidad, ya era adulta, pero vivía con mi padres y eran sus normas). Llego el día y con este otra desilusión, pues la promesa no se cumplió.

Finally, at the age of 27, a cousin's friend was giving up puppies for adoption, the offspring of a couple of puppies she had. My cousin contacted my mom and her, knowing my desire, talked to me, made me promise many things about the care and maintenance of these pets, after talking to me she agreed and told my cousin to bring him. I never knew what the dog was like, if it was big, small, its color, etc., I never asked either, I just wanted to have a dog. The day came, they brought me, my baby, he was a beautiful puppy, he was 2 months old, he fit in my hand, white, with a red ribbon. Among many names, the name SAGO was chosen, it seemed to me original, out of the ordinary. From that day on, my life brightened up, it was the wish of years fulfilled, I take care of him, I love him, I spoil him, for me, he is like a son.

Finalmente a los 27 años, la amiga de una prima estaba dando en adopción perritos, hijos de una pareja de perritos que ella tenía. Mi prima contacto a mi mamá y ella sabiendo mi deseo, hablo conmigo, me hizo prometer muchas cosas acerca del cuidado y mantenimiento de estas mascotas, luego de conversar aceptó y le dijo a mi prima que lo trajera. Jamás supe cómo era el perrito, si era grande, pequeño, su color, etc., tampoco lo pregunté, solo quería tener un perro. El día llegó, me trajeron a mi bebe, era un perrito hermoso, tenía 2 meses, me cabía en la mano, blanco, con un lazo rojo. De entre muchos nombres se escogió el de SAGO, me parecía original, fuera de lo común. Desde ese día mi vida se iluminó, era el deseo de años cumplido, lo cuido, lo amo, lo consiento, para mí es como un hijo.

In November 2016, when he was 4 months old, we went to a farm on a motorcycle. On the way back, I was riding in the back with him, but I did not realize that the leash was loose, so it got tangled in the brake axle of the rear wheel of the motorcycle, I felt a strong pull, but I grabbed my baby very tightly and he did not fall. I told the person who was driving to stop, I checked my baby and he was full of blood, but I could not get where it was coming from, when I raised my hand with which I was holding him, I realized that the phalanx of one of my fingers was fallen and I could see perfectly the bone of my middle finger of my left hand, this because the hook that joined the breastplate with the strap had broken and this had amputated my finger. At that moment I started to scream and I despaired, I was taken to the hospital in my city and as expected I lost the phalange, it was a very hard blow, I felt incomplete, sore, and of course depressed. But in spite of everything I felt calm, because I only lost a little piece of my finger, but I did not lose my baby, he was fine, he was healthy and he was still with me. Losing a little piece of my finger didn't hurt as much as losing my baby would have.

En noviembre de 2016, cuando él tenía 4 meses, fuimos a una finca en moto. De regreso, yo iba en la parte de atrás con él, pero no me percaté de que la correa iba suelta, por lo que esta se enredó en el eje de freno de la rueda de atrás de la moto, sentí un fuerte tirón, pero yo agarre con mucha fuerza a mi bebe y este no se cayó. Le dije a la persona que iba manejado que se detuviera, revise a mi bebe y este estaba lleno de sangre, pero no lograba conseguir de donde salía, cuando levante la mano con la cual lo sostenía, me di cuenta que la falange de uno de mis dedos estaba caída y podía ver perfectamente el hueso de mi dedo medio de la mano izquierda, esto debido a que el gancho que unía la pechera con la correa se había roto y esto me había amputado el dedo. En ese momento comencé a gritar y me desespere, fui llevada al hospital en mi ciudad y como se esperaba perdí la falange, fue un golpe muy duro, me sentía incompleta, adolorida, y por supuesto deprimida. Pero dentro de todo me sentía tranquila, porque solo perdí un pedacito de dedo, pero no perdí a mi bebe, él estaba bien, estaba sano y seguía conmigo.Perder un pedacito de dedo no me dolio tanto como me hubiese dolido perder a mi bebé.

Two years later I had to separate from him, I emigrated to Colombia from Venezuela, and as I didn't know what my situation would be like there, I left him in my mom's care, it is worth mentioning that after Sago came home, my mom spoiled him more than she spoiled me. Every night I cried for him and always dreamed about him. Finally, in March 2019 I could go to Venezuela to look for him, it was difficult to pass with him the border and the suitcases, then the anguish that he was in the hold of the express for 14 hours, the time it takes a bus from Cucuta to Bogota. We arrived at 3:00 am the next day and since then my baby is with me and is the joy of the house, if I arrive tired or sad from work he cheers me up if I had a bad day, he fills me up, he makes me smile, Just watching her wagging her little tail, that innocent look is enough to fix my mood.

Dos años más tardes me tuve que separar de él, emigre a Colombia desde Venezuela, y como no sabía cómo sería mi situación allá, lo deje al cuidado de mi mamá, cabe destacar que luego de que Sago llegó a la casa, mi mamá lo consentia mas que a mi. Todas las noches lloraba por él y siempre lo soñaba. Finalmente en marzo de 2019 pude ir a Venezuela a buscarlo, fue difícil pasar con él la frontera y las maletas, luego vivir la angustia de que estuviera en la bodega del expreso por 14 horas, tiempo que se tarda un bus desde Cúcuta hasta Bogotá. Llegamos a las 3:00 am del siguiente día y desde entonces mi bebe esta conmigo y es la alegría de la casa, si llego cansada o triste del trabajo el me alegra, si tuve un mal día, el me llena, me saca sonrisas, el solo ver como mueve su colita, esa mirada tan inocente, es suficiente para arreglar mi estado de ánimo.

Sago accompanies me to most of the walks I have done, he is a member of the family, so he is included in all my plans, as long as it is possible. Bogota is a city open to be PET-FRIENDLY, so in most places, restaurants, parks, shopping malls you can enter with pets. There are few places where they can not enter.

Sago me acompaña a la mayoría de los paseos que he hecho, él es un miembro de la familia, así que está incluido en todos mis planes, siempre y cuando se pueda. Bogotá es una ciudad abierta a ser PET-FRIENDLY, por lo que en la mayoría de los lugares, restaurantes, parques, centros comerciales se puede ingresar con mascotas. Son pocos los lugares donde no pueden ingresar.

These beings are a blessing, they provide so much love, they are so unconditional, so innocent, we have so much to learn from them and I thank God for putting Sago on the way, it is one of the best things that has happened to me in my life and I know that all of us who love our pets deeply will identify with my feeling. Estos seres son una bendición, brindan tanto amor, son tan incondicionales, tan inocentes,tenemos tanto que aprender de ellos y agradezco a Dios por poner a Sago en mi camino, es una de las mejores cosas que me ha pasado en la vida y sé que todos los que amamos profundamente a nuestras mascotas se van a identificar con mi sentimiento.
