Hello, esteemed members of the Hive community,
It has indeed been a while since I last engaged here. I have been away, taking time to gather my emotions, organize my life, and navigate through a spectrum of feelings, including sadness and disappointment, as well as making significant life decisions—one of which involved getting married once again.
This journey has been a roller coaster of emotions, but here I am!
This is my first time writing in the Hive Pets community, and I sincerely hope to be welcomed warmly. I am thrilled to share that I have recently become a cat mom! My brother-in-law gifted us this beautiful feline as a wedding present. A few months ago, I mentioned to him that if I were to get a cat, I would prefer one of ginger color, and to my delight, he found us the perfect ginger kitty. He truly is the best!
We named our baby Sou, and she has a unique nickname given by my brother: can you guess what it is? It’s a number that signifies a very important date in my life—26.
It has been approximately two weeks since Sou joined our family, and I have cherished every moment. She came to us at just over four weeks old and is growing beautifully. She eats well, sleeps a lot, and is incredibly cuddly.
Growing up, I never had the experience of living with a pet. We raised some livestock, but they were primarily seen as food rather than companions. My paternal grandmother kept cats, but I viewed them merely as wild little animals that caught rats. When I began living independently, I contemplated getting a support animal. Although I was not fond of dogs, I thought a cat would be a better fit. However, I always had concerns about the potential challenges.
After discussing this with a friend, I recognized the numerous benefits of having a cat and how delightful and low-maintenance they can be. Despite this, I still felt uncertain about my ability to care for one on my own. When I married this "friend," his brother surprised us with the beautiful gift of Sou. He was ecstatic upon receiving her, revealing himself to be a true cat person—something even his brother was unaware of.
Witnessing his excitement warmed my heart, and I knew that Sou had found a loving home.
One of Sou's best quality that I really love is her rapt attention to the sound of the door know clicking and twisting when her daddy comes back from work, she stays by the door and waits for him to enter in order to be the first to cuddle her daddy, such a daddy's girl.
As this is my first experience owning a pet, i have succeeded in ticking my box of achieveing a lot of firsts this year and I am so excited about that but I am also quite inexperienced. I kindly request guidance from fellow cat moms on the essential dos and don'ts of caring for this beautiful creature. I eagerly await your invaluable advice.
Thank you all, and have a blessed day!
