Hi, all. This is a continuation of my previous post. After several times looking for the cat sterilization place, we decided to use a cat shuttle service. It’s a small business named Mirai Cats Family (MCF).
A Promotion Discount Package
MCF collaborates with an environmental care foundation in the East Jakarta area. They organized a sterilization promotion program with several options:
- Self-delivery
The price is around 150K–700K IDR depending on whether it is a male or female cat, with eartip or non-eartip, and how many days of hospitalization.
- Cat shuttle
The price is around 365K–850K IDR depending on whether it is a male or female cat, eartip or non-eartip, and how many days of hospitalization.
Notes:
- The cost of sterilizing female cats is more expensive than male cats, because the process is more complicated.
- Sterilization with eartips costs less because it is a subsidy program + promotional discounts. A non-eartip package will cost a little more because it does not include subsidies, only promotional discounts.
Since we don’t have a vehicle to take Rainy to the clinic, which was quite far away, we chose the shuttle service with eartip. The total cost we spent was 400K IDR, only 20% of the price at the vet clinic.
D-2 : Communication
A few days before the D-day, we told Rainy that he would be sterilized with the reason why he had to be and the benefits for him. The night before the pick up day, we petted him more than usual while telling him that tomorrow he would be picked up for a sterilization operation, which would be implemented the day after tomorrow.
D-1 : Pick Up Day
Since our house doesn't have access to a car, we gave the MCF team (Anna) a pick-up point in front of a convenience store near our house. At around 11:30 A.M., they were arrived. We were already there with Rainy in the carrier. We said goodbye to Rainy and handed him over to them.
In the evening, Anna sent Rainy's photo documentation before entering the inpatient room with documentation from the foundation.
There was a little story from Anna, that Rainy had pooped in the carrier when they were on the way to the clinic. When they want to clean the carrier, Rainy raged and clawed at the hands of those who want to clean the carrier.
She also said that Rainy still looks perturbed at the clinic. Maybe because of being in an unfamiliar place and seeing a lot of cats.
We were worried that the incident of failed grooming at the vet clinic the other day would happen again because Rainy was stressed and being aggressive. We hoped that Rainy could adapt to his new surroundings and be calmer tonight. We also prayed for the operation run smoothly. We could only hope for the best.
D-Day : The Operation Day
July 29 was the day of the sterilization operation. Previously, we were told that during the operation there would no documentation or any updates to the cat owners unless there was a problem.
Fortunately, throughout the day until nightfall, there were no incoming messages from the foundation nor MCF. We assumed that the operation went well and that Rainy was fine.
After two days without him, our house feels quieter. We missed him a lot.
