Hello Hive friends and cat lovers! Today I will tell you an anecdote that happened to us with our cat to serve as an example and not happen to you.
First I'll give you some background on my little Blacky, while showing you some photos I took of him yesterday while practicing with my phone's camera settings. He is a two-year-old cat and since he was a kitten he has always had constipation problems.
Hola amigos de Hive y amantes de los gatos! El día de hoy les contaré una anécdota que nos pasó con nuestro gato para que sirva de ejemplo y no les pase a ustedes.
Primero les cuento los antecedentes de mi pequeño Blacky, mientras les muestro algunas fotos que le tomé ayer mientras practicaba con las configuraciones de la cámara de mi teléfono. Él es un gato de dos años de edad y desde cachorro siempre ha tenido problemas de estreñimiento.
As I have noticed that since we adopted him, I researched on the internet which foods help him not to suffer from the tummy and which ones affect him in a negative way. After seeing several pages and forums of veterinarians, they had something in common which was to give him soft food from time to time since this facilitates the intestinal transit of our kittens.
Como noté eso desde que lo adoptamos, investigué en internet cuales alimentos le sirven para que no sufra de la pancita y cuales le afectan de manera negativa. Luego de ver varias páginas y foros de veterinarios, tenían algo en común que era darle de vez en cuando comida blanda ya que esto facilita el tránsito intestinal de nuestros mininos.
I started to buy him these special foods for cats and the truth is that he loved it, I noticed that he was no longer complaining when he relieved himself, but after a while he returned with discomfort.
The day of the scare came because one morning I noticed that he was vomiting (I thought he was throwing a ball of hair) and when I approached him, it was not that, it had a very strong smell and the appearance of feces. Seeing this alarmed me and I looked for a vet close to home who could attend to him immediately.
Empecé a comprarle estos alimentos especiales para gatos y la verdad le encantó, noté que ya no se estaba quejando al momento de hacer sus necesidades pero al tiempo volvió con el malestar.
El día del susto llegó porque una mañana noto que estaba vomitando (pensé que estaba botando una bola de pelo) y cuando me acerco a él, no era eso, tenía un olor bastante fuerte y la apariencia de heces fecales. Al ver esto me alarmé y busqué un veterinario cerca de casa que lo pudiera atender de inmediato.
Fortunately I saw on the internet that there was one two blocks from my house and it had good reviews. I put Blacky in his carrier and got him there as fast as I could. The vet checked him out, touched his tummy and injected him with an anti-inflammatory. He told me to add a little oat bran to his food and give him a little olive oil twice a week to keep his digestive tract in good shape.
Afortunadamente vi en internet que había uno a dos cuadras de mi casa y tenía buenas reseñas. Metí a Blacky en su transportadora y lo llevé lo más rápido posible. El veterinario lo revisó, le tocó su pancita y le inyectó un desinflamatorio. Me dijo que a su comida le agregara un poco de salvado de avena y le diera un poco de aceite de oliva dos veces a la semana para mantener en buen estado su tracto digestivo.
With this story, my intention is to say that not all cats are the same, you always have to be aware of their diet. In the case of Blacky, it was not enough to just give him soft food, but to give him these instructions that the vet prescribed. Luckily, this only happened once and so far it has worked for him to give him the oatmeal and the oil. Always check what food is right for your cat.
Con esta historia, mi intención es contar que no todos los gatos son iguales, siempre hay que estar pendientes de su alimentación. En el caso de Blacky, no sirvió solamente darle la comida blanda, sino que a él hay que darle estas indicaciones que nos recetó el veterinario. Por suerte, esto solamente pasó una vez y hasta ahora le ha servido darle la avena y el aceite. Siempre consulten qué alimento es el indicado para su gato.
