Palos or Eel. An elongated fish that looks like a snake that lives in the sea or freshwater like rivers and creeks. They have a smooth slimy skin which makes them very hard to catch.
So why did we named this stray dog Palos?
When we moved here months ago, there have been at least 4 stray dogs that roam around our block. Maybe they were abandoned when their humans leave or they have chosen to live freely on the streets.
As these dogs are uncared for, the City Pound, in coordination with the homeowners association, frequently visits our place to catch them.
The City Pound has visited our block at least 3 times and caught the other 3 dogs.
But Palos always escapes, like a slimy Eel! Thus, his nickname.
Palos seems to be a calm dog. He does not run around or run after the kids playing. He does not bark aloud, except during night time when he sees new unfamiliar faces or anything peculiar.
He found a friend in the neighbor's dog, a female. So he just lie in front of the house where his friend lives.
Since Palos is always in front of our house, I always feed him everyday. And when I misses, he barks at our gate to inform me that he is hungry and it's time to feed him! 😅
Until the next City Pound comes, and when he escapes again, or until he finds a new home, I will still give him food to eat.
