Feeding a dog that needs a diet sometimes turns into a real problem. When my dogs got sick, I bought a special medicinal pate for them. I thought that the very fact that it was pate would simplify my task. Unfortunately, I can't often buy them pate, which they love very much. It's too expensive, and now, when the economy is functioning with great difficulty and prices are rising every day, it has become completely unreal.
But I was very disappointed when they refused him! I could say it was because of illness, but they ate simpler economy food. I was completely puzzled. The pate smelled well and looked great. Other dogs were shaking directly to get it (and in the end I would give it to them if it wasn't dietary).
I told the vet about it and she replied that this is a normal situation. Therapeutic feeds contain almost no flavoring additives, so sick dogs that have appetite problems ignore them. She said to allow dogs to eat what they love until their appetite is restored, and only then return to the diet.
