Poor Baloo was only 5 months old when he was surrendered to a shelter in Texas due to his medical condition (probable spina bifida) that left him incontinent and perhaps a little weaker in his back legs but still a lovable little puppy who deserved a chance for a happy life ๐
We were on the road well before dawn so it was a couple of hours before we were greeting the sunrise east of Flagstaff, AZ
Baloo was a gentle little furball who was a little bit shy when we first met him over in Gallup, NM. At first he was hesitant to move out of his crate but once we were on the road he quickly opened up.
In no time he was out and ready to enjoy some human companionship (Lulu was her usual gruff self at first but quickly decided that Baloo was an OK puppy).
Baloo obviously loved companionship and human love and in no time he was out of his crate to stretch out and get lots of love ๐
Of course being a puppy all of that love meant he was soon exhausted ๐คฃ from all of the activity and it was time to do what 5 month old puppies do best - SLEEP
All good things must come to an end and after almost 5 hours together it was time for Baloo to begin the next part of his long journey with a new driver and we said goodbye to our furry little friend as he made his way into California.
Plus a video montage of some of our time together on his ride across Arizona
๐ And finally Baloo happy in his new home (glad to see him enjoying the blanket that we gave him to enjoy in his new home) ๐
๐ Baloo's adventure by the numbers ๐:
3 days
5 states (TX, NM, AZ, CA, OR)
2300 miles
28 legs with 2 overnights
16 drivers
So ends another rescue transport. Many wishes for Baloo to enjoy a long and happy life with loving people.๐
Next up is another long drive along the same route in 2 weeks with a Catahoula puppy named Poppy who is waiting to be rescued from a Texas shelter.

I thought that I would share some of my stories of my involvement with transporting/helping out rescue animals (mostly dogs). This is something that I have been doing for the past 7 years or so.
No pay or professionals - just a bunch of great volunteers working together to help the less fortunate animals.
๐Happy stories that I hope you all enjoy๐
Here are some rescue organizations that I have worked with and support. Please help out these great people and seek out some of the many other rescue organizations - they always need our help.
