Another crazy weekend - another couple of rescued dogs needing help getting to there new homes. On Saturday it was Sadie and Sunday it was Elvis the Hound's turn.
Poor little Elvis had a hard life up till now
Elvis had been living in horrible living conditions and needed immediate rescue.
Heโs since been removed from the deplorable living conditions and taken to a vet for care
His "home" had been a pen outdoors with an old and ratty mattress as his "bed" and a torn and useless plastic tarp as his "roof". Dirty water and little food to sustain the poor soul.
And a letter from his foster telling us about the life Elvis had been living.
Elvis regained weight and had medical problems addressed (he was heartworm +) and it was time to get him to his forever family in CA.
Elvis had already been traveling for a day and a half by the time we met in Holbrook, AZ but the sweet little guy was ready to roll with his new friends.
A nice "I'm Elvis" kiss and it was time to get moving.
It didn't take Elvis any time at all to settle in for the ride and show what a loveable boy he was (he probably never was loved in his original "home").
Of course Lulu wasn't to thrilled to be sharing her humans with another dog but she figured Elvis wasn't that bad (being a boy) and she didn't mind sharing her treats and water bowl.
And when it was time to say our goodbyes in Payson Lulu decided a goodbye nuzzle was fine (despite all of Elvis' howling singing along the way ๐
So ended another long but very, very happy day for us. Elvis would go on the next day to finish his journey to the California coast and his new family.
Good luck Elvis - keep on singing
And of course.....

Thanks to all my friends for following my rescue adventures and stories. If you can please help little Vega (now Missy) receive needed surgery on her back leg and foot so that she can live a normal life. She was 1 of the 3 puppies I helped in December and hopefully she'll get down to Tucson this week for her medical care (looks like another chance for me to help her again on her voyage).
Vega is in immediate need of an orthopedic surgeon to fix her knee & ligaments and needs a boot for her right rear foot so she can lead a productive happy long life .
She will need to go to a medical foster with a swimming POOL - for physical therapy ( ie swimming ) Vega is just a baby and we want her to have the best chance of a long and happy life!

I thought that I would share some of my stories of my involvement with transporting/helping out rescue animals (mostly dogs). This is something that I have been doing for the past 7 years or so.
No pay or professionals - just a bunch of great volunteers working together to help the less fortunate animals.
๐Happy stories that I hope you all enjoy๐
Here are some rescue organizations that I have worked with and support. Please help out these great people and seek out some of the many other rescue organizations - they always need our help.
