It's a good thing that I'm retired and have an open schedule - you never know when you might get a call for help. Such was the case Friday evening when an old rescue friend telephoned me from Missouri begging for help. A poor little rescue needed transport from Nevada to a new home in Missouri this weekend and the drive across Arizona wasn't filled.
So basically it was...
Please help David I desperately need a driver
No problem Joan
Thank you SO MUCH
And now...
the rest of the story
Per the transport coordinator's email
Sweet little Sadie was diagnosed with seizures at just 3 months of age. She has taken phenobarbital regularly since then, however, and has not had another one. Her family has fallen on very tough times and has to surrender her. So let's help them and Sadie out by getting her to new forever home. She's going to live with another seizure dog and a mama who knows all about that stuff. :)
So some quick correspondence and coordination and we were all set to help out. It was an all too familiar route for us along Interstate 40 from Flagstaff to the AZ/NM state line in Lupton.
Sadie was a sweetie right away and couldn't wait to hop up with me and settle in for the 3 hour drive.
Sadie was enjoying all the excitement of new people and the passing scenery
But a young pup has only so much energy and even all of these new experiences couldn't stop the little girl from having a nice nap.
Again our time with this sweet girl was over all too soon for us although it meant that Sadie was that much closer to her overnight slumber and then on to her new forever home. Even Lulu enjoyed Sadie and had a little bit of play time as we were getting ready to part ways.
๐Good luck little Sadie and may you have many happy and healthy years with your new family๐

I thought that I would share some of my stories of my involvement with transporting/helping out rescue animals (mostly dogs). This is something that I have been doing for the past 7 years or so.
No pay or professionals - just a bunch of great volunteers working together to help the less fortunate animals.
๐Happy stories that I hope you all enjoy๐
Here are some rescue organizations that I have worked with and support. Please help out these great people and seek out some of the many other rescue organizations - they always need our help.
