Before I get started, @killerwot asked if I had the sort of mailing list thing we do on Hive, where you tag people either in a post, or in a comment in reply to the post, to let them know when the post has been published (I think that's a sufficiently complicated way to describe something so simple...lol). So if anyone would like to be notified, shout out and I'll add you to the list.
Mailing List (party of one for the moment...lol)
Now, to address the question that asked in reply to my podcast from yesterday...
Question 1 from successchar about Aureal posting
My question is about podcasting & using Aureal. Do you post you podcast straight from Aureal? and if soDo you type all this in Aureal or do you post it & then do an edit in PeakD?
I'm new to this and have no idea what I'm doing & need some tips for posting my podcast to Hive as a post with more than just the podcast. ~ @successchar
To start, go to Aureal's site - https://aureal.one/
Click the Login/Sign Up button in the upper right corner
For this, I'm assuming the person already has a Hive account (as I know successchar does, since she replied to my Hive post 😄 ). But for anyone reading this who doesn't have a Hive account, please feel free to ask me how that process works. At any rate, click the Hivesigner button to start the process of connecting your Hive account
I'm not sure if the referral code thing is available at the moment, but I just clicked, "skip."
Now you need to authorize aureal to connect to Hive, so click "continue"
Since I already did this process with my personal account, I screencapped this with my HiveBlogShare alt account. Enter your Hivesigner password and again click, "continue"
Now that you're connected to Hivesigner, you can authorize aureal by clicking, "Authorize"
Yes, Hivesigner again wants your password to make sure it's really you authorizing it. And yes, it's kind of a pain, but much less pain than having your account compromised.
Now you're connected and you should see a screen similar to this.
I switched to my personal account for this screenshot, since I'd already gotten things set up. To begin your podcast, click on the "Hosting" button on the menu on the left side, which will then bring you to Your Podcast Dashboard
I actually borrowed this screeenshot from Jennifer/epodcaster, since mine had a bit of an issue. Fill out all the fields (this is for your podcast as a whole, not an individual episode) and click "continue"
This is my screenshot, and I'm including it to show the weird grey X, in case you encounter it as well. I was so tired the night I set up my podcast, it didn't occur to me that it might mean there was an issue...lol. However, it didn't prevent me from completing the process, so I'm assuming it's some little glitch leftover from the recent Hive HardFork.
Now that you've got the podcast set up, you can add individual episodes. All of the fields are pretty self explanatory, If you want to include text for a post to accompany your podcast recording, you can enter it in the "Episode Description" box, or add a brief bit and then edit the post through PeakD, Ecency, etc. When you're done, click "Save & Publish
For the final step, click the, "Publish to Hive" button to send it to the blockchain. Since there's no option for adding tags, after the post appears, you can edit it to add them in.
EDITED TO ADD Okay, I'm still new at this, and I apologize for some bad information in that last step. I just realized all of two minutes ago that by including all the post text in the "Episode Description" box, on the Aureal site it looks like a jumbled mess! 😲 😭 So I'd like to change up my instruction to be something like, add a brief description of your episode, then edit the post after it publishes on Hive. Now to explore the @aurealone site and see if there's some way to edit that - if/when I figure it out, I'll edit it in to this post.
And that's it - I know it seems like a lot, but I wanted to make sure I got all the steps in, and it really is pretty simple to do. I know, because I figured it out!
And the second question I answered that was asked in reply to my first podcast...
Question 2 from incublus about the future of Hive
I don't know if I'm the only one with this problem, but it sounds a bit low to me. Could you increase that? My question is what do you think about future of Hive and tell us three amazing people you met at Hive. ~ @incublus
I answered this one pretty thoroughly in the episode, but figured I'd include the gif I mentioned I wanted to share in response to picking only three amazing people...
(yes, I was originally thinking of the Admiral Ackbar gif, but when looking for it, I found the Stranger Things one and liked it better)
That's it for today!
So if you have a question, please drop it as a reply to any of my AMA posts this month (either here on Hive or on my aforementioned WP blog ), and thanks in advance for giving me fodder for my chatter!
Happy listening all!
