Leaving school is honestly one of those moments that feels so big, like you’re ending a whole chapter of your life. But truth is, it’s just the beginning. If I was to advice anyone that’s done with school now, I’d say be open to the journey ahead, but don’t lose yourself while at it
After school, there’s this pressure everywhere, family, friends, social media, everyone starts asking “What next?” like you’re supposed to know all the answers immediately. The truth is, most people don’t. Even those that look like they have it all figured out, most times they’re just winging it too. So don’t feel less if you’re confused or not sure of what to do yet. You’ll find your way
My advice? Try different things. I mean, don’t just follow what everyone is doing because it’s trending or it looks like the fastest way to blow. Sit down and think about what really makes sense to you. You might think you want to be an engineer and later realise that you’re better off doing business or even something like fashion, art or sports. It happens, and it’s fine
One thing that’s important though, don’t compare yourself to others. Some people will start making money fast, or maybe enter uni quick, or even travel abroad, and you’ll be wondering if you’re doing something wrong. But really, everybody’s time and journey is different. You’re not late. Just keep moving at your own pace
Also, learn things that school didn’t teach you. Like how to talk to people, how to save and manage your money, how to fix small issues without always calling for help. they really matter
And please, if you still have your parents or siblings close, value them. Life will soon start to get serious and you’ll be doing things on your own. That support you have now, one day you’ll wish you can get it again
For the ladies, please don’t rush into anything. Marriage or relationship shouldn’t be the next big thing right after school. There’s so much more in this life to experience. Focus on building yourself, growing your mind, and becoming your own person. For the guys, I know the pressure to make money is high, but do it the right way. Don’t rush into shortcuts that will end in regrets
And no matter what, be a good person. Life will test you, things may not go how you planned, but don’t let that change who you are. Stay kind, stay humble, and never stop learning because learning is a continuous thing the more you learn the more you grow
So, you’ve closed the school chapter, but the story is still long. And the next part? It’s all yours to write
