There are many talks about health and wellness out there. Some do consider themselves as healthy and free from any type of illness, while some don't really think that they are totally free from disease probably because of a few signs and symptoms they see and feel.
Almost everybody is talking about how to get good health but only a few people are actively putting in efforts to gain good health. Not many people want to change their lifestyle in other to attain a good level of healthy living. Truthfully, changing lifestyle can be a tough thing to do, but nonetheless, most times, its a necessity.
Many people have their different definition of being healthy and fit. For some people, being fit is the ability to run for many miles without any drawbacks, while for some people, being fit and healthy means a totally different thing.
Before i answer the question of "If i see myself as fit or healthy", a contest by India United Contest, I will love to share the definition of Health according to World Health Organization, W.H.O.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". src
According to this definition of health by the World Health Organization, we can see that being healthy encompasses a state of freedom from disease and infirmity. However, it is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing. This means that somebody with headache can not be categorize as healthy. A depressed person or someone that is passing through grief, can also not be categorized as healthy.
Lets say somebody is medically fine, socially accommodating but they have one or two mental issues like acute amnesia, or they have transcient insomnia or maybe something as little as a slight headache with no underlying disease. In actual sense, that person will not be considered as healthy.
With this definition of health and wellness from WHO, i would say that i am not totally healthy. I have good health and i am fit enough to engage in many activities including intense exercise but with this definition, i am not completely healthy because i have a thing or two that is currently disturbing my mental health balance. I also have a slight headache and some little symptoms as a result of being stressed out for the past few weeks.
I am planning to achieve good health and be fit. One major thing i do to relieve myself of the stress is going for night runs. The time as at when i wrote this post is a few minutes past 7pm. I plan to go for a run by 8:30pm after making this post.
Another way i pan to stay fit is to reduce the number of shifts I work. Most times, I do work round clock for 5 days straight with less than 4hrs sleep in 24 hours. Its really affecting my health. Most times, after the 5 days, i end up having transcient insomnia. Hopefully, i will stop this and become as fit as i used to be.
