Currently in Nigeria where I am, we are experiencing the rainy season, which is accompanied by cold weather, and it’s been playing full as if we never experienced the hot season earlier this year. But let me talk about the dry season, which is accompanied by heat, and how I handle the situation as my response to this writing contest.
The ways I handle the heat season are as follows:
I bathe with cold water, and I do it on a regular basis.
I have some friends who bathe with warm water during the dry season, and it surprises me a lot. But it’s fine too because it’s for their health. I bathe with cold water to help me reduce the effect of the heat, and I bathe regularly, even at night. Sometimes, it becomes so uncomfortable to sleep well at night, so bathing is the only way to remedy the situation and have a good sleep. Over here in my country, we don’t have a regular electricity supply, and I don’t have a solar system to power up the fan, so I bathe regularly to help me stay cool.
I take in a lot of water. I don’t fail to drink enough water to hydrate my body since the weather is always hot and makes everywhere, including our bodies, so dry. I don’t have a measurement of the quantity of water I take, but I ensure I take enough water, and oftentimes, I don’t take it because I’m thirsty, I just drink water.
The next thing I do is to wear free clothes. It’s not like I sweat a lot, I don’t, but I love my body to be free from sweat, and with that, I wear clothes that allow breeze or air to penetrate into my body and not the ones that will make me feel heat. Anytime I’m in my house, I wear short clothes that give me total freedom. If I’m going for a rough or dirty job, I also wear clothes that allow sweat to dry off easily through the breeze entering my body.
Thanks!
