Hi all, greetings!
Here, I would be updating you guys about my proposed farming I intend embarking on.
Last year I missed out cause I didn't take it serious but this year, I am very much ready for it. Moreso, 'Maize Challenge' proposed by @felixxx has also inspired me to take this serious.
This is the place where I want to plant maize. I would probably add guinea-corn to it.
Last year ending, friend has volunteered to give me a piece of their land. I know a lot of work would be done on it cause he told me it's been years it was last used.
The place is actually far from where I reside but I will still be visiting it occasionally to see how things goes and ensure everything goes well. Here in Abuja, you won't get such place that easy.
Before then, I made arrangements for clearing bushes and burning of grasses. I planned to plant the corn this month ending when it starts raining seriously. For now, the groud is very strong.
When I went there early last month (April), the clearing had already commenced in some parts. I can't actually determine the size until the clearing is virtually completed.
You can see in the pictures where we gathered a bunch of sticks and dried grasses to burn and my friend trying to put fire on one of them.
As of then, a section of the farm had almost been completed, remaining the ones you could see at far end.
That's all for now. I hope you come around for more as you follow me through this journey of planting maize (maize challenge) and other crops.
