We're entering October where I've keeping up my pace with the painting works. My next in line is a squad of Retributors and 2 units of Liberators leader. I decided to paint these guys cause they have the same color theme. Retributors is a rare units rightnow, so I'm a bit hesitant to get the perfect result on these.
As usual I use Abddon Black to prime the surface then continue with Retributors Gold as the main colors. Retributors Gold has always been the standard gold colors; but the color might be too bright and too metallic, which a bit too difficult to put a highlight later. Putting shade is the only way turn the glossy color into matte.
The next step is the secondary colors which is red, blue, and white. Kantor Blue for the cape and pauldron blend and create a very contrast with the gold. Kantor Blue have darker value, creating a good shade over the gold. Mephiston Red are used to color the helmet mane and the rod. Lastly we use Wraithbone to color the parchment.
Several touches added to polish the detail. Leadbelcher used for the hammer head and Army Painter Bright Gold to garnish the emblem on the shield and pauldron. I also use Agrax Earthshade to shade and bring darker notch on the area with deep recess. I use Agrellan Badland as the base technical and then Dawnstone to color the stone.
By this point the units have been fully painted and comes the most satisfying parts, it is to put the highlight and create color gradation. I use Alatoic Blue to create a lighter more saturated blue over more visible area. Sigmarite are used to dry brush on the edge of the golden armor. Other highlight are also given on the hammer handle and helmet mane.
And here we have the finished job of a total 5 (five) units.
