"April's Journey..." - Part 1 (Dreem-WoTW S2 R3)
The gear turned, interlaced with another, and another. His eyes traced the inner workings of the machine to the place where the light shone.
Job done he thought to himself. One day he would get the credit he was due for keeping the old system running with an almost flawless 99.999% uptime. Those Canadian geese still have not paid for making him drop that 0.001% he thought.
Scotty often became a little bemused at how it was always Dastardly David that got all the plaudits, with his devilish good looks and 100% success rate. Oh how Dastardly David loved to gloat, "100% success rate Scotty my boy, that's what I have, and don't you forget it!"
100% success rate, pfft what a load of fluffing crap, it was my gears that kept the carpets running.
Without me Dastardly David would not bring in the daily required catch of one Earth camper.
Without me Dastardly David would be nothing!
Let's see who my trusty carpet Charlie has brought us today said Scotty to nobody in particular. His eyes having now fixated themselves to the foot of the very grand curved staircase.
Ah look, there was his trusty steed, Charlie the burgundy carpet. Charlie was an E-class model 3.14 transportation carpet still with (most) original parts in one piece and all meticulously maintained by Scotty.
Although Charlie was a little bit slower now than some of the other models, he had never carpeted or flipped his cargo unlike some of the newer supercarpets. So Charlie was still the carpet of choice for the top earthling takers. Carpets being carpets they didn't have a sex, so were all named with a name that could equally be female as much as it could be male.
If Charlie was the favourite amongst the earthling takers or etakers, then it would be Leslie that was a close second, and Scotty always referred to Charlie as a he and Leslie as a she.
Dastardly David was currently the top etaker and took great pleasure in rubbing Scotty's nose in it whenever he had the chance.
Today was a Tuesday in April, which meant that the earthling Dastardly David should have brought in was a male. Scotty had no interest in males, least of all earthling males.
Ah well, Scotty would still have to inspect the cargo. Even if not a female, Scotty needed to check that the cargo had arrived in one piece (apart from the obligatory black and blue bruises from flying debris especially if Dastardly David was at the controls) and that both Charlie and David had done their jobs properly.
Just because Charlie and David had 100% success rates, there was no guarantee the cargo was undamaged. I mean Dastardly David is a bit of a giant and could have crushed the cargo.
Scotty was in a good mood, he always was at this time of year. Afterall his mother said April was joyful, and joyous things would always happen when April arrived at the castle.
Every year when April came around, something wonderful happened.
This year seemed different though. As of yet nothing extraordinarily joyful had happened.
The cargo that Dastardly David had brought to the castle, stood up and gingerly stepped off Charlie the transportation carpet.
To her left was Dastardly David completing paperwork on the clipboard that had been handed to him by an eldery woman dressed in a hooded black cloak and with a big hairy wart on her long nose.
More wood ya bawbag shrieked the woman to someone over at the other side of the staircase.
April was sure she was in a dreem or was it a nightmare. She yelped at the touch of her fingers painfully pinching her thigh. Yep this was no dreem, this was very much a living daymare thought April.
Scotty had stopped in this tracks, what the fluff was this?
Yes, definitely Tuesday thought Scotty, so where was the male earthling.
This girl was a girl and most definitely a female. Dastardly David had made a mistake. haha Scotty actually burst into laughter. 100% success rate no more!
April was now suddenly becoming very joyful thought Scotty.
The girl was speaking to Scotty now.
"Ehm excuse me but where am I Sir?"
"Sir, Sir I am no Sir." laughed Scotty.
"Well my mother always said, April never forget your manners, so Sir you are Sir."
Scotty heard more wood being put on the fire, and a clanging metal sound echoed round the hall.
"Ehm what was that Sir?"
Scotty looked at her, she was female, she should have been a male. The pot was preset to cook to male mode. The last time the pot cooked a wrong sexed cargo, the explosion destroyed the left wing of the castle.
"That was the pot getting warmed up. It takes 18 hours for the cargo to be cooked. Today's catch gets eaten tomorrow at sundown if you know what I mean."
"What" shrieked a hysterical April.
"Yes Dastardly David cocked up, Wednesday is marinated male day, not fermented female day, that is only on a Thursday!"
"What" shrieked an even more hysterical April.
"Yes Dastardly David cocked up, he will be down to 99.996% now. What a great day! Look at the smug giant, he doesn't know he cocked up yet!"
"What" shrieked April and keeled over backwards.
Scotty for some reason rushed forward and caught April in his arms, ensuring no harm would befall her yet...
She was kinda pretty this female thought Scotty, with her soft long hair flowing over his arms.
Wait, didn't she say her mother called her April thought Scotty.
This is too strange whistled Scotty and looked over at the smoking pot.
The usual bubblings and hissing noises were coming from the pot as the sauce ingredients were all mixing together nicely.
One of the wisps of smoke from the pot seemed to hang in the air and expand. Yes thought Scotty it was definitely expanding.
Be$$ $$r up S$$$ty was being whispered from the smoke.
Scotty walked closer to the pot, the wisp got clearer, the words got clearer.
The wisps of smoke became one, and Scotty was staring at the ghost of his mother.
Scotty was walking with a purpose now, April still unconscious in his arms.
Mother's are always right thought Scotty.
Beam her up Scotty was what the ghost was chanting.
Beam her up Scotty, April has come!
Yes, thought Scotty this is it, this is what his mother meant.
Running now, he jumped the last six point two eight feet and landed on Charlie. There was no need for Scotty to speak, Charlie knew his master Scotty and knew exactly what had to be done.
With a great big fluffing whoosh Charlie took off whilst simultaneously banging on purpose into the head of Dastardly David, enough to send him sprawling into the bubbling pot.
Right thought Scotty, time to get out of here, at least with Dastardly David in the pot there will be no explosion and that might mean they won't look for Scotty on Earth.
His mother was right, April was here, it all made sense now and they would be together.
Come on Charlie, you can make it urged Scotty.
They were dropping altitude, but not fast enough if they were going to get through that dreaded jet of warm steam.
Out of nowhere a flock of Canadian geese appeared and whilst half of the flock honked in encouragement the other half helped push Charlie, Scott and April lower and through the steam to safety.
Thank you all saluted Scotty and give my regards to Chief Rascal Ageese, tell him Uncle Scotty says thank you!
April woke to the feeling of wind gently wafting her hair.
Where am I? she said to Scotty.
Going home little one, going home said Scotty with a big beam on his face.
