Greetings!
Welcome to another edition of sharing my experience in homeschooling my son. This homeschooling edition's topic is all about my son's third module (with lessons: learning measurement, sorting things, color matching, and shape matching).
Just like in the previous module my son has had a lot of fun. The lessons are very engaging the only difference is that he wanted to do the lesson inside our bedroom instead of on our sala (where he has a small studying table a chair).
Learning Measurement
We began by learning about measurement. In this particular lesson, my son is tasked to identify the bigger or longer object presented to him. The objects were pencils, carrots, rulers, and two trees. This lesson also includes coloring the bigger or longer object on the examples given.
Before we began I gave some examples of the lesson that he is going to answer and then we started.
We started with the trees. I told him to pick the taller tree from the two examples given (I am anxious about this one if I elaborated well enough on the examples that I have given him). I am a bit relieved because he chose the taller one.
And now for the confirmation if I am really able to elaborate to him the examples that I have given him. His next task is to pick which of the two carrots are longer. Although I am a bit relieved previously I am still anxious if he is going to choose the correct answer.
As it turns out, he correctly chose the correct answer on which of the two carrots are longer.
And now for the validity if I really did my job in elaborating. His next task is to choose which of the two pencils are longer.
To be honest, I am more relieved when he chooses the longer carrot.
And now for the validity.
He may have chosen the first two correct answers but I still want validity with the help of the two remaining examples that he is going to answer. This time he is tasked to choose the longer pencil and longer ruler.
And I am so relieved when he chooses all the correct answers (which are the longer pencil and the longer ruler).
While we are doing this lesson I admit that I am thinking too much, what if he is not able to pick up the examples that I have given him.
But all those thoughts were gone because he chose all the correct answers.
Sorting Things
After we finished the first lesson we then proceeded to the next lesson. This time my wife took over teaching our son. Our son's task in this lesson is to find all the "similar" objects.
In this lesson, my wife is very confident that our son will be able to find similar objects. With that being said, she did not give any examples to our son. She immediately instructed our son to find and pinpoint a similar object.
I am a bit surprised about this lesson since our son was able to pinpoint all the similar objects.
Color Matching
Prior to this lesson, my wife already taught my son about color a year ago. So, prior to this lesson my son is already very familiar with colors. This time I took the helm in teaching our son.
In this lesson, my son is tasked to match the colors of the examples given by connecting a line between two adjacent examples.
My son also did pretty well on this one since he is already very familiar with colors.
Shape Matching
The next lesson is all about shapes. Prior to this lesson, my wife also taught my son about shapes more than a year ago. My wife bought a shape chart online.
In this lesson, my son is tasked to match the shapes of the adjacent examples.
And since our son is pretty familiar with shapes he had no problem in answering this lesson.
Matching Small and Big Shapes
This next lesson is somewhat similar to the first lesson of this module. While he was tasked to pick the longer/taller object in the first lesson, in this lesson my son is tasked to pick similar shapes on the examples given.
And just like in the first lesson, he did pretty well by choosing all the correct answers almost immediately.
And that is how this homeschooling goes. As the module kept coming I am now starting to get used to it. Homeschooling is still a challenge even if I am only homeschooling a kindergarten. And it is very fulfilling once I see my son picking all the lessons with ease.
