As a lot of you may know, a new month on the chain means a new opportunity to power up. If you didn't know, make sure you check out this post. And today, I've decided to power up all my HIVE tokens.
A little back story:
I'm one of the people that is still active on both Steem and Hive. While I don't crosspost (I post different type of posts on both platforms) and everything is authentic, I like to be as transparant about it as possible. The reason I'm still on Steem is for the Freewriters Community, a group that really helped me out when I first started posting regularly. A lot of freewriters made the jump to Hive, but not all of them, which means that I will continue to post freewrites on Steem. As for the rest, I've moved to Hive.
I did however, anticipating something that might make me want to leave Steem, stop powering up my earned Steem (in case I had to move overnight). For me reaching 500 SP was a big deal, as it took me over 2 years to reach that goal. Yes, much longer than a lot of power users, largely because I was inactive for long stretches as well. Something I was also proud of was that everything was earned and I had never taken Steem off the chain (cashed out). Now reaching 3 years on the chain, I might move some earned Steem for the first time, even if it is just to experiment a little.
For Hive, it is a completely different story. Even though Hive is a hard fork of Steem and everyone I currently know on Hive are people that moved over from Steem, this is a brand new platform, and for that reason I'm looking to reinvest everything earned back into the blockchain. I might not power up all my HIVE tokens every month, but for my first Hive Power Up Day, I felt it would be the right move to power up everything I had yet to power up.
As of this morning I had 268.900 Hive Tokens in my wallet.
The Power Up.
From 569.329 Hive Power to 838.229 Hive Power 🌻🐝
I was a little bit late on also powering up my Hive Backed Dollars, because I didn't realize the conversion is a different from SBD and it isn't instant. I power up about 69 Hive I had in my saving, back from @nathanmars' Seven77 days, when I tried to save 7.77 Steem every week.
In all, it felt good powering up, which also means I've completed one of my 10 #Commit20 tasks for today.
Have a great April fools day, and remember to keep your pranks light this year, as 2020 has been hard enough on us already.
p.s.
5% of the rewards on this post go to @peakd for their contribution to Hive and providing me with this user friendly interface, also allowing me to have a smooth power up.
5% of rewards on all my posts go to my daughter's (@elynn) Hive account. There is currently nothing on it, but she will start posting when she is ready :).
