I was sitting down reading a book on Demonology (now THAT'S an opening line, isn't it?), when it dawned on me that I haven't posted in a few days. I read A LOT, and love learning about esoteric things and hidden knowledge that we're not supposed to know about.
If they don't want me to know it, I want it even more...
Gnostics, Hermes, "The Pearls of Wisdom" Biblical Giants, King Og, The Book of Enoch, The Manichaean Writings, The Book of Giants, and on and on. After reading an article on "The Boyfriend Spirits" of Africa that women are reporting, I've discoveredd a whole new world of African mythology that I'd never known of before, just as rich as the Greek mythology I'd been taught as a kid.
I like to explore rabbit holes to see where they go, but this post is about why I've been busy lately, sooo...
Hey guys! I don't have a lot of time today, but I wanted to share again why you're not seeing so much of me lately. It seems I have to do this from time to time, so here we go again. "Why isn't @EverNoticeThat being consistent on Hive?" Because @EverNoticeThat is busy as fuck, that's why. These are the reasons you haven't seen a lot of me lately. Here goes! :)
Taking Care Of The Elderly Matriarch Of Our Family
Sorry, but she comes first before Hive or anything else. She lives alone and needs constant care. She is also being preyed upon by the drug addicts in my family and the familial grifters who hit her up for money day after week after year.
I protect her as best I can because she will not let me call the police to report them for elder abuse.
She's developing some forgetfulness now, and because of my reputation, when she's in the middle of an episode, some of them have even gone over to her place PRETENDING TO BE ME, in order to fleece her of her money so that they can get high.
I also go over and mow the lawn, do her laundry, clean her house, and some minor fixing-up. All for free, as I'm the only one who doesn't take money from her and I never will.
So as you can see, I have a lot on my plate.
While this is rewarding, it also leaves me exhausted, and if you've read my blog over time you'll recall me saying I sometimes fall asleep at my laptop in the middle of writing posts. Often, I’ll publish the post, then go right to bed dog-tired. But as the responsible one in my family, I have to protect her at all costs.
I think the main person here on Hive that gets this is Josediccus, as he seems to have had a similar upbringing as I did.
Mediating Family Disputes And Drama
sometimes I feel like the non-drinking designated driver who's responsible for making sure drunk family members get home safely. Known as an honest broker, I'm the "unbiased third party" who ends of handling disputes and keeping people from physically attacking each other.
If I wasn't around, I don't know what would happen. Drugs and alcohol can take the most kind and considerate person and turn them into monsters, and that's what's happened with the human dirtbags in my family.
They fight with each other ALL THE TIME. My concern is how it affects the handful of decent family members and most importantly, the matriarch. They need to stay the fuck away from her and keep her out of it, as she tends to get very emotional about things.
So I have to come in as the traffic cop and direct the flow away from her and my distant, decent relatives.
Money And Work
Here, the Polish, Irish, Italian and African-American majority city of my childhood is no more. Having now been replaced (as in parts of Europe) by a flood of immigrants who brought crime UNHEARD OF before in this once-peaceful hamlet.
Now the majority, they have taken over city government as well as most positions in local businesses.
They look out only for their own...
If you apply for a job, they'll pass you over for someone from their ethnic group, even if you're qualified and they're not. If you get a job, you won't keep it long, as they'll run you out to open a slot up for a friend or family member. So it's hard to both find work here and keep a job.
This has caused a brain-drain of smart and educated people leaving the area to find work elsewhere where native-born English-speaking Americans are actually still wanted. Businesses are also closing down here, not only due to the violence, but the inability to make a profit from a poor, violent, uneducated and non-English-speaking population.
Some of them can't even read at all. So the American managers have trouble communicating with them. One woman from Guatemala didn't know what to do with the traffic lights. Others simply stood there at work when the fire alarm went off, as they were here illegally having lived in thatched huts near a jungle and had never heard an alarm go off before.
I also need funds not only for myself, but to augment what is taken by the family grifters from our matriarch. So there's a lot going on here.
Not to mention the incredible crime that is also causing people to flee. When I report hearing the sound of gunshots close by, I'm not joking.
Other Writing Projects
Remember I told you that my grandmother was a prepper? She was, and one of the things she taught me was to never put all your eggs in one basket.
I've been here a long time folks, and I've seen a whole lotta bullcrap in that time, as well as a ton of genuinely inspiring things as well. One of the highlights was seeing the people you guys worship as whales now, back when they were little redfish and struggling.
Many of these people who write posts that live on trending sure as hell weren't doing that when they started! lol! What is shows is that if you have some skin in the game, network and engage, and most importantly BE CONSISTENT, you can thrive on Hive.
I've NEVER been able to do that because of my responsibilities and lack of funds, but I contribute when I can. But after all of the shunning, downvoting gangs and attempts at censorship witnessed on this "censorship resistant" corner of the blockchain, diversification becomes the order of the day.
Never a good idea to invest in only one thing. So when the opportunity arose to spread my wings and write a little further afield, I took it. I'm a good writer and it's great to have options.
You never know when some "offended liverwurst" might take umbrage with a political position I hold and decide to play around with upvotes or not upvoting, so this helps mitigate some of that.
Lately I've been behind in these writings and am usually racing to catch up. But make no mistake about it, with my six-year anniversary coming up July 25th, Hive will always be my first love. Sometimes we might screw around and see other people, but you always hold a special place in your heart for your first love.
So that's it folks! Those reasons listed above (and no others), are the reasons for my spotty posting lately. And to those who love to harp on about why I'm not posting every single day; sorry, but the matriarch of my family has to come first. Cheers! :)
