Hive.vote recently announced some really interesting changes that will have an impact on curation and rewards. Exactly how it will change, or for how long it will last is unknown, but rewards will definitely be affected in some way.
Curation trails are not affected by these changes but the fanbase limit is changed to a default value of 2 per week. This means that you will upvote authors only 2 times per week, until you manually change it.
There have been complaints about auto-voting which is the reason for this decision:
"There are complaints about auto-voting around the hive and with the previous configurations, users had to vote at least once per day but now they can limit votes per week. So we hope this new setting will help to reduce auto-voting a little bit."
Is This What We've Been Waiting For?
Since day 1 on Hive, we've seen that those authors who where put on auto over on Steem, continued to rake in rewards on Hive as well. The same authors are getting well-rewarded, much due to auto-votes and this could potentially have a huge impact...
I will most likely be affected by this as well, as many of my followers have been gone for a long, long time, so they will probably not make any changes at all on hive.vote. That will result in less votes from these users on my content, if I produce more than 2 posts per week.
- What do you think about these changes?
Honestly speaking, most of the rewards I earn is due to some very generous users who has decided to support me with auto-votes. These changes could potentially cut my rewards by more than 50% per week, which would be really bad for me. Especially as my goal is to grow my account, and as I have been extremely happy with the results so far.
It is what it is though, and even if I start to earn only 20-50% of my current rewards, I am all for this change. It's obviously sad, as I truly feel that I've been somewhat blessed with the auto-votes I have managed to get... But, this also means that auto-votes actually can change for good... And who knows, I might be lucky enough to be brought to someone's auto after this.
- So it might work out well anyways.
Like they stated within the post:
There will be troubles for our users to reconfigure their settings. Some of the configurations were unchanged for 3 years.
Seriously, how cool is that?
Some users have been getting auto-votes for as long as up to 3 years. Some users have been earning curation rewards for 3 years without a single change until now. I think it's awesome. I love to see this change. Now, I just hope that people who are being literally forced to make changes on hive.vote because of this will do more than just change the weekly limit. I hope they will put a little more effort into things and put other users on their auto lists as well. Mix things up a bit.
- I like the change.
