As some of you know, this journey of building a dedicated Hive Snap app has been fun, though not without its challenges. That said, I want to make sure I'm being reciprocal with the people who are helping me navigate these waters. So...I made a new bot. There. Isn't that nice of me?
In all seriousness, @shanibeer let me know today (rockstar that she is) that she's been making it a point to curate Snaps every single day. Of course, this is awesome. Of course, I love it. But let's be honest, it’s hard enough keeping track of regular posts, let alone Snaps.
Still, her self-imposed mission gave me an idea. One I was pretty sure I could bring to life with a few hours of focused work.
Now, I’m not claiming to be an expert, far from it, but the foundation for this new bot was something I already had lying around from a previous project. So, a bit of code recycling began this morning, and it ended with a bot that tracks Hive Snaps users and creates a live feed, on Discord, of all places—for me to scroll through and curate accordingly.
I’m borrowing a page from the @ecoinstant mindset here: build what you need. If no one else uses it, fine. It serves its purpose.
So here it is: a tool to help me curate Snaps made with our app.
Naturally, I’ve already let @shanibeer know it exists. For now, access to this feed channel is limited to a specific role. I don’t want to bother newcomers on the Discord server with notifications they didn’t sign up for.
Still, I can see the early roots of a curation effort taking shape from this little side project. And who would’ve thought, me, of all people, talking about curating short-form content. I used to badmouth it, remember?
But such is the way life goes...
