Un saluto a tutti,
sono le 21.45 e solo ora ho trovato il tempo di sedermi alla scrivania e guardare un pò cosa c'è di nuovo in Hive; sono davvero stanco e credo che non appena finirò di scrivere questo post andrò a dormire.. se avete letto il mio post di ieri I hope that my story might encourage you to never give up, saprete allora il perchè di questa mancanza di tempo e soprattutto a cosa mi riferisco.
Oggi è cominciata la mia nuova esperienza lavorativa che servirà a tamponare la mia situazione economica finchè il mio precedente lavoro non riprenderà ad avere il suo consolidato giro di clienti e d'affari.
Un lavoro che mi vedrà per i due mesi estivi di luglio e agosto in giro per la Puglia, parte della Basilicata e del Molise a consegnare prodotti caseari..
.. un lavoro che mai avrei immaginato sarebbe stato così impegnativo!
Sveglia alle 5.45, la casa è silenziosa perchè tutti dormono ancora profondamente; ho lo stomaco chiuso per l'ansia delle incognite che questo nuovo lavoro potrebbe riservarmi e così dopo aver bevuto un paio di caffè sono pronto ad uscire con destinazione un piccolo paese dell'entroterra barese distante quasi 50 chilometri da casa mia.
Arrivato puntualissimo allo stabilimento, mi viene brevemente illustrato il mio lavoro, l'itinerario che seguirò e i clienti presso i quali dovrò consegnare la merce.
Non so se ci sia una logistica che studia le consegne, ma nella stessa giornata dovrei visitare alcuni negozi nel brindisino per poi ritrovarmi a Venosa (in Basilicata), così comprendo subito di come la giornata sarà più dura del previsto.
Dopo aver caricato il mio furgone frigorifero e controllato le bolle di consegna, sono pronto a partire: non sono ancora le 8.00 e il termometro dell'automezzo segna già 32 gradi: non poteva esserci un inizio più infuocato di questo, un vero e proprio "battesimo del fuoco".
Per certi versi il lavoro ha degli aspetti positivi, in quanto sei solo con te stesso e puoi pensare molto, puoi goderti un pò di musica mentre guidi ma questo è piacevole solo per la prima ora, al massimo le prime due dopo le quali comincia a subentrare lo stress del traffico, l'ansia di essere indietro sulla tabella di marcia delle consegne, il negoziante che è solo nella sua attività commerciale e quindi deve servire i clienti prima di controllare la merce consegnata e firmarti la bolla di consegna.
Oltre a una vera e propria stanchezza fisica derivante dallo stare sempre seduto con il piede sui pedali.
Certo un furgone non ha le comodità di un'automobile, il cruise control e tutti gli ADAS che ti fanno guidare tranquillo, ma anzi mi sono ritrovato un furgone con il cambio che ogni tanto s'impuntava e la difficoltà di parcheggiare impossibilitato alla visuale posteriore a causa della peculiarità tipica di un furgone che il vetro dietro non ce l'ha e per giunta senza l'ausilio dei sensori di parcheggio.
Insomma, potrebbero sembrare delle cose superflue ma vi assicuro che dopo ore e ore al volante avrei voluto avere qualche comodità per rendermi la vita più semplice.
Arrivato all'ora di pranzo ho capito bene del perchè dal brindisimo mi sarei dovuto trasferire a consegnare in una zona completamente diversa e distante: i negozi nella stragrande maggioranza dei casi chiudono tra le 14.00 e le 16.00 e io avrei dovuto approfittare di quel lasso di tempo per fare la mia pausa pranzo e percorrere oltre 150 km di strade interne e non proprio scorrevoli, nelle quali avrei incrociato tanti mezzi agricoli che mi avrebbero rallentato parecchio.
Essendo tremendamente in ritardo sulla tabella di marcia, ho duvuto pregare telefonicamente qualche negoziante di aspettare a chiudere l'attività perchè ero in procinto di arrivare a consegnare la merce e così per recuperare parte del ritardo mi son ritrovato a rinunciare a fermarmi per i miei 30 minuti di pausa pranzo e a mangiare un panino al volo mentre guidavo.
La giornata è trascorsa più o meno in questo modo e ho completato il mio giro alle 18.45, con quasi due ore di ritardo sui tempi preventivati.
Alla riconsegna del furgone i titolari dell'azienda mi hanno rincuorato spiegandomi che fosse normale non essere pratico e aver accumulato del ritardo, così salutandoci con l'appuntamento per il giorno successivo sono ripartito per tornare a casa.
La mia auto mi sembrava una navicella spaziale in confronto al vetusto furgone che avevo dovuto guidare e così alle 19.30 ho finalmente varcato la soglia di casa, stanco come non lo sono nemmeno dopo 20 chilometri di corsa o 80 km in bicicletta.
Se pensate che a casa io abbia potuto riposare siete completamente fuori strada, perchè una figlia di 4 anni e mezzo ha una vitalità inesauribile e siccome non capita quasi mai di essere lontani per così tante ore, abbiamo giocato prima e dopo cena fino al momento di metterla a letto: alle 21.30 finalmente sono libero di poter rifiatare un pochino!
Non mi aspettavo di poter accumulare tanta stanchezza in un solo giorno di lavoro e fra poche ore dovrò ricominciare tutto di nuovo, quindi forse è meglio se chiudo qui questo mio post, nel quale volevo condividere con voi questa nuova esperienza e in parte giustificarmi per l'assenza su Hive, che credo durerà per tutti i due mesi nei quali svolgerò questo lavoro.
Spero di riuscire ad essere presente all'incontro di venerdì sul canale discord di Olio di Balena per discutere della comunità italiana che si sta formando, magari dopo qualche giorno di pratica diventerò più veloce e quindi riuscirò a presenziare.. chissà!
Ora vado a dormire, non credo di avere ulteriori energie per fare altro... domani mattina rileggerò questo post e lo pubblicherò, quindi per ora...buonanotte!!

it's 9.45 p.m. and only now I found the time to sit at my desk and look at what's new in Hive; I'm really tired and I think that as soon as I'll finish writing this post I'll go to sleep... if you read my post of yesterday I hope that my story might encourage you to never give up, then you'll know why this lack of time and above all what I'm referring to.
Today began my new work experience that will serve to buffer my economic situation until my previous job will resume its consolidated turnover of customers and business.
A job that will see me for the two summer months of July and August around Puglia, part of Basilicata and Molise to deliver dairy products.
... a job that I never imagined would be so demanding!
Wake up at 5.45 a.m., the house is silent because everybody is still sleeping deeply; my stomach is closed for the anxiety of the unknowns that this new job could reserve for me and so after having drunk a couple of coffees I'm ready to go out with destination a small village in the hinterland of Bari, almost 50 kilometers away from my house.
When I arrive at the factory on time, I am briefly shown my work, the route I will follow and the customers to whom I will have to deliver the goods.
I don't know if there is a logistics department that studies deliveries, but on the same day I am supposed to visit some shops in the Brindisi area and then I find myself in Venosa (in Basilicata), so I immediately understand how the day will be harder than expected.
After loading my refrigerator van and checking the delivery notes, I'm ready to leave: it's not yet 8.00 a.m. and the thermometer of the vehicle already reads 32 degrees: there couldn't have been a more fiery start than this, a real "baptism of fire".
In some ways the work has some positive aspects, because you are alone with yourself and you can think a lot, you can enjoy a bit of music while driving but this is pleasant only for the first hour, at most the first two after which the stress of traffic begins to take over, the anxiety of being behind on the delivery schedule, the shopkeeper who is alone in his business and therefore must serve customers before checking the goods delivered and signing the delivery note.
In addition to a real physical tiredness from always sitting with your foot on the pedals.
Certainly a van does not have the comforts of a car, the cruise control and all the ADAS that make you drive quietly, but on the contrary I found myself a van with the gearbox that sometimes got stuck and the difficulty of parking impossible to the rear view due to the peculiarity typical of a van that the glass behind it does not have and moreover without the help of parking sensors.
In short, it might seem superfluous, but I assure you that after hours and hours behind the wheel I would have liked to have some comfort to make my life easier.
Arrived at lunchtime I understood well why from the toast I would have had to move to a completely different and distant area: the shops in the vast majority of cases close between 14.00 and 16.00 and I would have had to take advantage of that time to make my lunch break and cover over 150 km of internal roads and not exactly sliding, in which I would have crossed many agricultural vehicles that would have slowed me down a lot.
Being tremendously late on the schedule, I had to beg some shopkeeper by phone to wait to close the business because I was about to arrive to deliver the goods and so to make up part of the delay I found myself giving up stopping for my 30 minutes lunch break and eating a sandwich on the fly while driving.
The day went more or less this way and I completed my tour at 6.45pm, almost two hours behind schedule.
At the return of the van the owners of the company cheered me up explaining that it was normal not to be practical and to have accumulated some delay, so saying goodbye with the appointment for the next day I left to go home.
My car looked like a spaceship compared to the old van I had had to drive and so at 7.30 p.m. I finally crossed the threshold of the house, tired as I am not even after 20 km of running or 80 km on my bike.
If you think that at home I was able to rest you are completely out of the way, because a 4 and a half year old daughter has an inexhaustible vitality and since it almost never happens to be away for so many hours, we played before and after dinner until the time to put her to bed: at 9.30 pm I'm finally free to refuse a little bit!
I didn't expect to be able to accumulate so much tiredness in just one day of work and in a few hours I will have to start all over again, so maybe it's better if I close here this post of mine, in which I wanted to share with you this new experience and partly justify myself for the absence on Hive, which I believe will last for all the two months in which I will do this work.
I hope to be able to be present at the meeting on Friday on the Discord channel of Whale Oil to discuss the Italian community that is forming, maybe after a few days of practice I will become faster and then I will be able to attend... who knows!
Now I go to sleep, I don't think I have more energy to do anything else... tomorrow morning I will reread this post and publish it, so for now... good night!
