Ever since I joined this incredible community nearly two months ago I have often wondered why there isn't a solid regular hangout or show on Discord where us crypto people can congregate and talk all things crypto and Hive. It would not be exclusively about Hive and would include the wider crypto scene, although Hive would clearly be a focal point. We can even throw in some time for chatting shit and bitching if you like.
I know there are plenty of individual projects in and around Hive which have their own Discord server and I am fully aware of the main Hive Discord server which can be really useful for information and asking questions, and that's great. You have people like @crimsonclad and @mahdiyari in there always trying their best to provide relevant information and answer questions people may have, especially from noobies. But there is no weekly show or hangout that I am aware of in that server.
My gateway into crypto was the former incarnation of Hive. I joined Steemit in 2017 and my life changed. Part of the huge learning curve I embarked on was provided by various Discord servers that accompanied Steemit. I'm sure many of you will recall SteemSpeak. This was owned by the extraordinarily distinguished man known as @fyrstikken, and my word did he not only provide some classic entertainment value he was very adept when it came to crypto.
I used to plonk myself in the SteemSpeak server each evening and listen for hours and hours to people talking crypto, not just @frystikken. The place was bustling and all sorts of people chatted crypto in there. I remember @mughat who was also another crypto expert and a nice guy. I learned so much about crypto in SteemSpeak and other Discord servers, simply by listening and occasionally plucking up enough courage to ask the odd question.
In my humble opinion we need a weekly Hive and crypto hangout back. We don't necessarily need to set up a new Discord server, perhaps we could use one of the already established ones. But I'm sure that many people on Hive, both new and old, would appreciate and benefit from a regular chat which is focused entirely on crypto and Hive. I'm sure lots of people have lots of questions too that they could get an answer to by attending this show.
I'm done with coffee and crypto it's time for something a lot sweeter. So why not let us all come together in unison for, drum roll please, Crypto & Cola. Coffee is great don't get me wrong but it can leave a bitter taste so I think we need something a little sweeter that might give us some energy and I reckon we could all achieve that in the Crypto & Cola hangout, what do you reckon?
I am new to Hive and while I am more than happy to play a part in trying to get this set up, in all honesty it would be so much more effective if one of the more seasoned and established Hivians
could either step forward and help me bring this idea into bloom, or direct me to someone who has the clout needed to at least get this show up and running. Once up and running I'm sure they could then take a step back should they wish.
I have placed a detailed message on @acidyo's latest post with the hope he might have something he can say or do that might get this show on the road! I would also ask @hivetrending and @denmarkguy if they have any thoughts on this idea. What about you two @enginewitty or @shadowspub or you @thekittygirl?
