People use Hive for various reasons. It can be a social platform if you want it to be, but of course earning crypto is a big attraction. You can do that by posting, but some do it mainly from curation. You can automate that in various ways to optimise your income. I have made some use of the auto-voting services, but I try to keep it mostly manual.
One option to earn is via @dlease. I have not done this, but they came to my attention as certain people who make Hive worse are exploiting it. A prime example is huaren.news who has bought almost 100k of HP delegation and over 400k SP on Steem. He is using that to downvote those who dare to downvote his posts which seem aimed at milking rewards. He gets very little real engagement.
This is on Steem, but he has hit me on Hive too.
He has an army of other accounts that follow up his downvotes, but those have negligible effect.
He obviously prefers Steem as he can get away with anything there whilst his Hive posts get cancelled out.
Getting back to dlease I would just like to suggest that people check on who they are delegating to and consider if that is good for this platform.
I will not name names and leave it up to people to decide for themselves what is right to do.
At some point I followed some curation trails, but then I noticed my votes were going to some dodgy people. I really do not care if I earn less by not supporting them, but I prefer to use my votes for good.
I think it is worth sacrificing some short-term profit for the long-term good of Hive. Support those who deserve it and who are underappreciated. That may actually earn you more as that is what the curation algorithm was designed for.
Hive five!
