The News
I have been away a bit this week, so I may have missed some news. I still kept an eye on crypto prices and it is good to see $HIVE creeping up again. That will help those using it to pay for @hivefest.
It seems Blurt is down and may need a hardfork to fix it. Some people there would be welcome to post on Hive. Other burnt their bridges, but the downvote situation is not as bad as some people there make out. I hardly hear anyone complain about it and those who do usually have clear evidence of abuse against them. I think Hive should be open to as many people as possible, but if you try to cheat the system then do not expect to earn much.
Friday Follows
For a change this week I am running a @hivesql query for people who are almost a minnow. We have almost 8500 minnows and increasing. I still run the @tenkminnows project that aims to create more of them. Some people just need a little push to get there. These are not necessarily recommendations. I am just taking the first few results of my query, but maybe you will like them or can give them guidance. They are all about 90% of the way to minnow.
- @ophibious is posting gaming videos. Gets some big votes, but appears to be powering up.
- @tokenyzzy is not making so much, but then posts with a single picture and not much text tend not to do so well. You need to give people something more to engage with. Has only commented once! Posts in French.
- @charjaim seems to aim to inspire with posts in Spanish.
- @loganhate is a Mexican rapper with posts about Splinterlands and growing his account.
- @isgledysduarte may also be trying to inspire people in Spanish.
The Doghouse
@themarkymark has not been posting much as someone is just wiping out anything he does and also downvoting what he votes on. That is what he gets for caring about Hive. He posted to say something about why he downvotes and talks about a case where someone was being hit for reusing content. I agree that any re-use of images ought to include substantial new content in the post. This is especially the case if you get a lot of automatic votes and you are not automatically entitled to rewards for recycling posts. The rewards are shared across all of us and so we get a say in where they go. You need to put in some effort. I think you ought to also be engaging with people, even if it is just with those who comment on your posts. Some do not even do that. Most of my voting is manual and I will take such behaviour into account.
The End
It is only about ten weeks to Hivefest. I have done a little power down to pay for my ticket and then will look into transport. If you do go then a lot of the food you need should be included in your ticket. The hotels are not cheap, but this is an expensive European city. I hope to see many of you there.
Have a great weekend.
Hive five!
