It's a big day for all of us! Congrats to all the people who launched this new blockchain! Without your dedication we would be nowhere.

I have a lot more to say about Hive, and even though I know it was just launched today, I am surprised by one thing: new account creation is not possible at this time.

There are a ton of things that need to be fixed, obviously, but at the top of the list should be users, namely new users.
If we are really to make new changes in this new blockchain and not repeat the mistakes of the past, we all have to understand one thing:

New account creation should be the #1 priority right now.

There is a ton of publicity right now on this community fork, and by not having new accounts being able to be created at launch, we are missing out on new growth.

Also, I would like to propose that new HIve accounts be free. The Telos blockchain (also DPOS) has made all their new accounts free by creating a fund that automatically creates new accounts for users. Hive could do this as well.

If there is any big lesson of the past it is this: If we don't make the sign up process easy and free, Hive will just remain as some niche thing. I propose using a portion of that dev fund to allow people to sign up to Hive with a free account, and make this for the first 1 million Hive accounts.

This would do one thing: CREATE FOMO.

If people learn that they can get a free account right now and be part of the first 1 million accounts, then I think that will create a lot of interest. If we do nothing, then the momentum of right now is lost. We really need to be smart about this. Often marketing is just left to devs, which is not really a good idea as they don't specialize in creating FOMO.

Let's be smarter this time around. How do I create a proposal that we vote on? Do we have a governance system? Look at Telos Decide for cues, as Telos has on-chain proposals that people vote on to make changes to the chain operation. Hive needs something similar. Let's get some ideas from Telos Decide governance and make Hive a real improvement over Steem. Good job everyone. Let's make Hive the best place possible. Any idea how to make a proposal for the free account idea? I know people will say, "but people will just squat accounts" Well, we can adjust the amounts to say 100,000 free accounts or something similar. And we could even use a phone sign up process to further discourage abuse. Many chains are doing this now.
