Realized this after a post by @holoz0r - which is recommended to read . my short trip and reflections
Nine years of fun - well not always. But nine years where I met tons of great people, also met several not so nice people. But nine years of learning the basic in blockchain, crypto and other areas. When I started we been called Steemit (branding I still miss to be honest - sounds better than Hive in my humble view). Everyone knows the story of the takeover by a billioniare, the fight for our community, the fork to Hive. That showed community bounding, all worked for a common target, the community, the independence and for people!
Unfortunately we also lost great community members that stayed on steemit (not all because they wanted to - was not the entire perfect switch - you can find a lot stories on both chain I am sure - we lost mainly Korean people - some great guys.
My personal journey
So our brother @steevc brang me here - did not understand how this crypto thing worked - left, came back in December 2016, met some Germans that helped me and since then I am contributing pretty regularly. Had my ups and downs - when @splinterlands started I used some stake to invest there and ended up to powerdown and invest most assets into the game - recently I went back the other way and sold game assets to increase my Hive stake again which I do not regret.
My personal highlights are still to create the first @music-community on the chain (which I try to support still, could do more but right now not that creative anymore), big fun been some music tags like #danceweekend #technofriday #rockclassics etc that sometimes resulted in kind of weekend parties with a lot angagement in the early days and photo contests I created - that was really fun. Stuff such as #SunThursday and #Beachwednesday - first #beer content as series even before @detlev started his @beersaturday initiative (a guy I also know since ages way before the invsntion of Steemit).
Met real life friends
Not many but the friends I found here in real life I really trust - not spam tagging them here -they know who I am talking about!
Will Hive be alive in 9 years?
No one knows - we could do better in many areas of marketing and attrackt new users and investors but we know that and many guys try to improve all that ongoing. We still have a small but great community. As long this is the fact and we do not drive away good people I see still lot potential for the chain.
Also glad that my buddy pre-blockchain @detlev is now really a much appreciate member of this community - it was hard to convince to join (remember our meeting durcing CeBIT).
Hope the chain will survise, improve and raise its profile.
