With the upcoming event a week or so away there was alot of testing to be done. I joined in on AltspaceVR for one of the pre-events, also known as Pre-Pump III as this was third pre-event to make sure everything is working well.
Being my first VR event I was quite curious about it all. I joined in a little too early and was greeted to an empty room. So keep that in mind when joining, do not join before the specified time or you may not be able to see anyone when it starts.
I got on PAL and chatted with @crimsonclad and she said everyone was there so I rejoined and sure enough I could see many people in the event. There were people all around chatting with each other and a few people practicing gestures using their VR headsets. I only had a computer monitor to use so my experience was a little more limited but still alot of fun.
There were some issues with "invisible guests" as I could not see @juliakponsford nor could I see @r0nd0n. Also had some troubles seeing @asgarth when I was chatting with @jarvie, but once I quit out and rejoined I was able to see him. So not sure what happened there, but hoping it will all be straightened out by the time of the event.
I used my snowball microphone, headphones, mouse and keyboard to be a part of the event and was quite cool seeing so many people there I know. I did a little chatting with @definethedollar and @steevc. Also said hi to @themarkymark and @therealwolf that were there.. Loved your cowboy hat Marky. I thanked @roelandp for setting up the event and we chatted for a minute about where we live.
The video is a little under an hour though the event was an hour and a half. Though I had troubles for the first half hour being in an empty room. It was so weird, I could see two people in the room talking to themselves it appeared. Though after reconnecting I could see many more people so I guess they were just talking to another guest I could not see at the time.
There was some interesting floating guests as well, guessing they had VR and set their boundaries while sitting down and then when standing it would make them hover. Also saw a disembodied figure holding a laser pointer, so some funky things were going on my side for sure. I checked to make sure my video card was not maxing out which it was not so not sure why I was getting invisible guests and some weird missing body parts. But all and all I had alot of fun and looking forward to joining the main event coming up in a few weeks.
You can register for the event at hivefe.st and you do not need a VR headset to join just as I did with just a computer monitor, mouse, keyboard, microphone and such.
