Today I have a lot to share regarding our next big update.
There is just too much going on!
Not only is it very important that I share with you some knowledge about all this, but it is so immense it could require several articles.
You will forgive me for sharing all this without rereading all of it - and I will share the new screens as soon as they get ready. I must get back to program this!
So without delay, let's get to this new information!
TECHNOLOGIES is the next big thing!
We are waiting for so many features to become active!
But we are also getting into one major innovation that EXODE will bring to the table of blockchain and science fiction. And this is the new technology concept, the way it works across all games, the way you can share it with friends or lease it to market.
I don't really often talk like that about EXODE.
Even if I understand all the innovations EXODE wants to bring it also has its own humble pace and is also the result of all the inspirations it blends together. It is the "sum of many things". It also exists thanks to so many game designers who made nice games before and all players.
So there is no better reward than to see player collections increase, their value increase, and the fun increase! We are in 2325 here, away from many problems of the current world. And seeing things coming together is great!
Blockchain allows so many new ideas to take shape and value.
So in the last days there was a lot going on "in EXODE designing office".
And what begins to transpire is actually... something I find huge!
This huge potential is now coming in the Technology concept and how it is being made in EXODE.
Ongoing player contest with rewards!

Now let's get back to our technology concept...
Technology effects
With the Technology Update we will also add and reveal numerous new game scores and effects.
- Technologies can unlock new Colony Actions.
- Technologies can unlock access to Technologies of the next tier.
- Technologies can reveal some of the game mysteries, such as allowing you to study the devastating Aliens.
- Technologies can grant you special quests and their rewards. For instance, completing the Analyzing Ship Damage technology will unlock the Ship Repair quest.
- Technologies can increase Knowledge in specific areas. This knowledge has a direct effect on research speed and several activities: Planet Knowledge will make all missions faster on your planet and protect you from dangers, Region Knowledge does the same in a region and is gained faster, and so on.

How to reveal and learn Technologies?
This is the easiest and most traditional part.
All games begin with Evacuation, then Scanning, then Colonization.
All games will also begin with "discoveries" to study!
You can basically pick a Discovery, assign a Team to it, and the team will use its available Lab Space to work that out.
If you don't have a Lab Space, you can work even from the limited space and shelter of your broken ship, which is used after landing as your default habitat and living space. But citizen proficiency is limited there. All technologies will take time though so you have to pick your target well
Technology rarity
In EXODE you will have available discoveries.
When studying them, you will learn technologies.
Whenever you do so we will also roll for a Technology Rarity:
you can have a Common, a Rare, Epic or Legendary tech!
Better rarity means more powerful effects and keeping good chances for rarity on all technologies unlocked by this new technology.
Feeling unlucky? Then you can assign your team again and try to "deepen" your technology, and try again to roll for rarity and improve your tech!
So as you can see the concept gives you much game time to your technology teams, and a lot more decisions to you, such as:
- What are the risks on my planet? Which need should I try to cover first?
- Should I optimize the resource cost or production, should I make my citizens happier before?
- Maybe I should research how to make a makeshift space and have my first Lab Tent?
- I need this Eliza on an Away Team, but I would like her to continue learning this tech!
- Should I deepen this tech and try a better rarity?
All decisions are on you, and you need to adapt to the risks on your planet and solve this Cornelian choice on your own!
More value from technologies
Your Technology NFT comes "free" meaning it will become available inside your game, as all other game generated assets.
But even if it is bound to your game you will be able to extract some value from it.
Value for your other games
The first value is for your other games: all technologies you learn in your active games will automatically share their "best rarity level" with all other games where you have learned this tech! So yes, all of it is always a bonus!
This will share a lot of advantage between your games. Also, we are going to allow multigames at some point in June, so that you can enjoy the benefit of all this.
Value for your friends!
Another feature we are deploying in June is some utility to player squadrons.
Player Squadrons will benefit from a "Technology slot" where a technology could share its benefit (and the benefit of its rarity level) to other members!
We will also work on fixing and improving the Player Squadron experience and screen (for the people who don't know, this is available in your Colonization Pass).
Value for your alliance!
And we are not leaving alliances behind!
Starting in June we will add some usables slots to your alliance, allowing the same "share technology" feature.
Also at this time we will work on much awaited alliance features, such as switching to private invitation and so on.
Value for market!
And we will also work on allowing to "lease" technologies once we add the colony market!
This means unlocking a trading license on some of your best / most rare technologies, and allowing other players to rent the benefits from it.
Multigames becoming something in June
As you have read above we are going to increase the value every game brings.
But we don't want people to be tempted by multiaccounting as a result.
Blockchain is agnostic about that: one account is like another and nfts can move! And it's good.
But as a game we want players to bind with each other, identify each other, play with each other, extend their personal collection, collect account advantages and this works well with a single account. And we work on a design without giving in to exploits such as multiple accounts.
One of the results of recent developments is that we would like to test multigames again. This works really nicely with our new Technology concept.
This means, allowing you to launch several games from your single account and see a benefit from it!
In EXODE this concept is protected thanks to cards being "locked" to their ongoing game: so you can't run 100 games with a single Origin and deck: you need one Origin and ship and crew for every ongoing game!
Technologies and planets are going to make the interest of every game stronger so we will want to reinforce this multigames aspect now.
When?
We are in May and are working on this Technology Update as part of our colonization loop.
While working on it in the last days we were adding several new gameplay values and this immediately refined the technology concept.
It became so interesting we felt the need to allow players to have tech rarity - we find this fun - and to take advantage from the rarity level of their techs. And yes, we know this comes with some luck and some frustration and we wanted to make this as a fun thing to share cooperatively.
We know some players will have a good roll there, and not elsewhere. We also know players would love to exchange about their colony and their progress. Well, now this will come together, cooperatively: if you have an achievement in Ship Construction, or Module Repair, you will be able to share this, and you will be the hero of your squadron and alliance.
Every story from every colony will continue benefiting and sharing even from an event as regular as researching technologies.
We already know we are bringing a good level of discovery and cooperation in the unique assets of your planet, but we felt we could bring it even further in this technology concept.
We have mentioned several features coming in June: such as more Player Squadron features, more Alliance features and so on. These are part of bonus features we will implement after the main course.
Right now, as we are in May, we are working on releasing this Technology Update, refined with all these ideas. It also comes with a Team Update - allowing you to create your citizen teams - because these teams will work on your technologies.
This unfortuntely will take us a few more days but we also can't wait to share with you the Technology Tree and all the discoveries you will be able to study! This way players will be able to refine a Technology Strategy Guide!
We are continuing to work on this all this week. We are going nowhere during Ascension - we stay in the EXODE world!
