Or the struggle bus stops here!
My not so illustrious entrepreneur life started many many years ago. When someone comes up to you and says "We're having a little get together to discuss a new business opportunity" Run like hell. I, however, did not run. Like the naive person I was, I said "Sure that sounds great. What kind of business" "Oh, you'll learn all about it see you at the party"
Should have been another
But, it wasn't
Our intrepid hero and ne'er do well adventurer went to that meeting and forked over money. Oh yes, he did. But, he got the superduper(not just anyone is offered this) Fast start package. It was only like 150.00 in 1991 dollars for those that want to adjust.
As if that weren't enough, he also signed up for the training tapes at like 10 or something dollars a month? Maybe it was more. Plus the vitamins and dish soap and vitamins and and. But you see, he was getting money back on those so the cost would be "negligible" and if just 2 friends signed up and did the same, he'd be making a profit.
After all that, my upline stopped being responsive or helpful. So, I had to go around them to their upline guy. Much more helpful. The other people? Still made a cut off of me. Ain't MLM grand?
This was before the internet. The only pyramids I knew about then were in Egypt.
No pyramid scam Scheme here... This is MLM, totally different.
So, I was in it for a few years. I tried recruiting and got nowhere. I did cold calling of cleaning companies to unload the sh*t on buy stuff ad nauseum. All to no avail. I did ok, probably broke even for a while.
We really did like the dish and laundry soap. Was it really any better? No clue. We did sort of save money on it. I never did really get all BV PV xyz bullshit of it all. I also had a spouse that wanted no part of building a business.
I finally quit around 1994. All told I probably lost a few hundred bucks.
I did several other businesses. I'm a slow learner, what can I say? I'll post about those sometime.
