Whenever I travel to another country, my absolute favorite way to explore is by walking. Thereās just something magical about discovering places one step at a time. Thatās why Iām starting a new series called āThe WalkVentures of an Overseas Filipino Wandererā as youāve probably already seen in the title. LOL! š
For this stepisode, Iām taking you with me on a walk through Tokyo, Japan.
That day, I accompanied one of my best friends who is based in Canada, to Shinagawa Station as he was already flying back home. Unfortunately, I could only send him off up to Shinagawa because going all the way to Narita Airport is too expensive.
Since I took a half-day off work, I figured why not make the most of it and explore Tokyo on foot?
So from Shinagawa, I decided to walk all the way to Shinjuku. I checked Google Maps and it said itās about 11 kmābut of course, I made a few pit stops and some detours, so it wasnāt exactly a straight line.

First detour: I stumbled upon this small park with blooming roses.
Such a pleasant surprise!
Then I remembered my best friend recommended this peaceful garden park in Gotanda named Ikedayama Park, which he used to visit back when he worked in the area. And wow it really was so zen and quiet, like a hidden gem in the middle of the city. I sat there for a bit to think, emote (lol), and just soak in the calm.
After that, I continued walking, passing through Gotanda, Meguro, Ebisu, Shibuya, Harajuku and finally arriving at Shinjuku. It was quite the adventure!
Honestly, I wish I had an app that could map out the exact trail I took. Do you have any suggestions for good walking tracker apps?
Anyway, here are some of the photos I snapped along the way:
