As fate would have it. I happened to be getting paid out another weekly power down of Steem today which is perfect for first of the month. I don’t think I’ve ever made a power up day post before as I tend to set my posts to 100% power up and I just do it whenever I have more than I want to hold in liquid.
I am a strong believer that actions speak louder than words. You have those that go out and do things and share about those actions. Then you have those that talk without any actions for what seems like an eternity.
We have this new world to play in as people went out and did what was needed to create it. While not everyone is happy that frankly would be an impossible task to take on for world happiness. While we have not been here for very long I’m quite thankful at how easy of transition has been.
Many have been asking me if they should be doing this or that. Should they be power down in one place and convert it over to the other? Should they be putting some on the side? This along with many other questions. Frankly, they are your coins you should be doing what you want with them. If you are not sure then that ok as well. I, however, don’t have a magic crystal ball and can’t tell the future despite what my profile might say about me being a time-traveling cat (darn it!)
My plans are to power-down quite a fair bit of Steem over time. A chunk of it will be going into Hive as long as there is a decent exchange rate between the two. Many for so long use to say anything below $1 for our ecosystem was a good deal. Well, things are at quite a decent deal for those that still believe in that we are just now on Hive! I will be picking up a little more Hive at the very least when I can. I think It would be neat to be sitting at a total of 10k Hive so that is my next goal. I still have a ways to go which will take some time.
Beyond that, I do see value in holding some liquid here or there in other coins. You might notice I keep a little Hive on hand. Once in a while, a new blockchain game will come out and I suddenly need some liquid on hand to see what it is all about.
I have also been expanding out my reviews and checking out more ETH games these days as well. Along with games that will be on Hive or moving over to Hive at some point. I have some further content I’ll be rolling out at some point regarding that as well.
Which some of those games can cost more than a triple-A title just to play enough to create content around. It’s nice not having to pay conversion fees and dealing with other nonsense to get fiat into cryptocurrency. Tokens, after all, should be spent from time to time as well on things you enjoy. As that is the world many of us see as the future where everything you pay with is in crypto.
I understand many wish I was doing a lot more than I have been. I enjoy making content so that has been my focus again since got to put down my pitchfork and get back to gaming. I’m also working on creating my own game that will take many years if I’m lucky to finish.
I try and provide some support when and where I can. I do end up getting contacted with a lot of things and I almost always say no. It’s just not on my plate to pick up another major commitment from many of the things I’m currently involved in. I do understand our ecosystem needs a lot more people volunteering to help out, showing support, and people doing what they can.
I know many are struggling right now with how sideways the world has gone. If you can’t come up with the time to do something it’s ok to say no. Try and provide some helpful information if you can but saying no is ok.
The same goes for your coins and finances. For right now I’m fine and can afford to power up what I have been. Cryptocurrency is a high-risk thing and I don’t expect it to pay my electric bill let alone much else at the moment. I like what kind of future it could create for me but if it does not it’s not the end of the world either.
As I told many at some point after what happened with the things ongoing at Steem. Those Steem coins no longer hold much value to me other than whatever I get at an exchange. I powered them up over the years for their use. That to me was their value. I never expected to acquire enough of them for it to make a big enough impact in my life if the price spikes like crazy.
If I happen to get to 10k Hive that dose starts to peak my interest in them having an exchange value outside of what it allows me to do with them. Still, I think with SMTs and who knows what else comes up over the years. I’ll want to hold some Hive.
I also know in the future from the economic downfall we are expecting to see from CONVID19 that times are going get hard. I sure hope I won’t need to break open my piggy bank of coins to try and survive the downfall and slow recovery for the area I live in. That is always the downside of being within a reasonable driving distance to a beach. The tourism industry flatlines for a while when the world of money halts. Until, people can afford the luxury of going on vacations again. You never know how hard the fall is going be. You can only do what you can to prepare for it and move forward in life.
Anyways I hope this helps people understand a little where I’m at. Along with my plans of powering up some Hive. I think this random ramble has gone on for quite some time. Thankfully I don’t’ have plans to make many of these power up day posts. This one went off the rails quite a bit! I do however think it’s important that people see many of us powering up here and there when they can.
