What is Hive Power Up Day?
The Hive Power Up Day or HIVE-PUD in short is a monthly recurring day, always on the 1st of the month, on which we collectively power up some (or all) of our liquid Hive to Hive Power.
The initiative was started by @streetstyle and if you to learn more about the August 1st edition, please check out this post by @traciyork which features all the prizes connected to the Hive Power Up Day (yes, if you participate, you can also win something 🎉 ).
There are a lot of benefits to powering up as well, as is explained in this post by @sndbox. Aside from these benefits (more curation rewards, interest, delegation power), powering up collectively simultaneously with the stoppage of power downs and trading/selling hive, could have an impact of the value of Hive due to its scarcity.
And of course, aside from all these benefits, it makes for a great day to show how committed we are as a community.
What is HiveBuzz?
@hivebuzz is a project made possible by @arcange and is the place where you can find all your achievements on Hive. You've probably received a comment from them when you've wrote your first post, received your first upvotes and every time you unlocked a major achievement on the platform. If you want to learn more, you can read the introduction post here and the guide with all relevant info here.
Basically, HiveBuzz is the gamification of your Hive experience. On hivebuzz.me you can enter your Hive username and you will be provided with all the badges you have unlocked on with activities, personal badges and certain specific meet ups that were big enough to have their own badge.

HiveBuzz also has a ranking page, where you can view how well you score on the blockchain based on your reputation score, the amount of posts, comments, replies and upvotes you have gotten and received, as well as HP, account value, author and curation rewards and following stats.

What is the Hive Power Up Badge?
The Hive Power Up Badge will be a personal badge you will receive when you participate in the Hive Power Up Day.
Like @hivebuzz mentioned in the announcement post there are only 2 things you have to do to qualify for the badge:
You have to power up Hive on the Hive Power Up Day (The 1st of the Month). But it is important to know, Hivebuzz will use UTC time and date, so check your timezone and make sure it is the first of the month based on UTC time when you power up.
You have to power up 100 Hive to be eligible. Of course, this is to avoid people from powering up unusual small amounts of Hive, just to get the badge.
Fun fact:
100 HP is not only the minimum amount of HP you need to have to participate for HIVE-PUD prizes, but is now also the minimum amount you need to power up to get the badge. While people with a 70+ reputation and over 8000 HP are excluded from HIVE-PUD prizes, they can still get their Power Up Day Badge. So, that's another reason to celebrate Hive Power Up Day!!
