Early last month @sidwrites posted a list of 15 Ultimate Tips & Challenges For Every Hive User. I was just starting to get things moving again with my Hive account and the article was exactly the impetus I needed.
Since then I've been slowly working my way through each tip and challenge. The first tip was about expanding your boundaries. Targeted at new Hive user to get them looking beyond their profile and wallet page, it was equally as applicable to me.
My account stretches back four years, most of the original people I followed were no longer posting and my feed had become really stagnant. While it still contained high quality posts, they tended to be from the same few people. Taking sidwrite's advice, I decided to look beyond my existing Hive boundaries and get out there to find new people to follow.
I set a goal of following 200 new people by October 31st.
Why such a long period of time? I didn't want to just following anyone, following for the sake of following, I wanted to follow people I found interesting, or shared similar interests with. People who's writing I enjoyed, or who's words made me think. Posts I'd be eager to read. Finding them was going to take time.
At present I have followed 74 new people. My feed is really happening again! I can't remember the last time I let my voting power get as low as it did last week, but there's just so much good stuff in there to upvote :)
As with all my goals, whether work, personal, or Hive, I've been tracking things in my journal by colouring in a honeycomb hexagon each time. Only another 126 hexagons to go!
How about you - have you stretched your Hive boundaries lately?
(Also, does anyone else track their Hive goals and stats in a bullet journal or similar? Would love to see other's trackers!)
Until next time,
@Sammie
A HUGE thanks to @sidwrites for all the great articles! The 15 Tips & Challenges one mentioned really got me thinking about my whole Hive experience and the simple steps I could take to improve it. I'll be posting more as I work my way through each tip and challenge.
