The word BULLY to my own knowledge and experience so far is when one free will is being messed with without the person fighting back, another perspective of being bullied is whereby one is being intimidated or abused one way the other.
There are different ways one can be bullied, one can be bullied on social media or internet, bullied in school by class mates or senior students etc. There are several ways and all these are categorised under being bullied.
This week's topic third edition feature is tagged BULLYING
Have you ever been bullied before? It could be in school, on social media, or even in your neighborhood. Do you know someone that was bullied? What are your thoughts on it and how do you think such a thing can be eradicated?
The above topic will take me back to when I was still in junior secondary school. Back then I was having a small stature and everything about me then was all about getting to know things and to read in other to broaden my knowledge. But I have a huge love for football back then asides reading.
So, when I was in junior secondary school,me and my friends do go to school with football in other to unleash our football skills during school break. But whenever we want to use the school field we always make sure that the field is free before we set out in other to avoid unnecessary issues with other class mates or we probably rush out during break to get a space for ourselves.
We have always adopt such routine until one day. Whereby we where on the field playing football and a class mate came to us saying we should give him the ball that he and he's friends want to play the ball. This fellow class mate looks huge, not always smiling, a terror during class activity and he also repeated the class. He's mates where in JSS3 then but he was in JSS1 with us all because of his ignorance towards reading.
Without further ado, this class mate noticed we did not answer him, then he went ahead to bring he's gang, on their way to where we were playing football our ball rolled towards him and he's gang. They carried the ball and left with it and we could not do anything.
They withhold our ball for days and play football with it everyday. Whenever we go to them to get the ball. They threaten us and pursue us back. This continued for days not until the week after. We went to them for the ball, they threatened us again and insisted on not returning the ball. But this time around we did not allow their big body and and negative threat sway us. We stood our ground threatening them as well. But we knew in between ourselves that if the the argument turns to a fist fight we won't be able to overcome yet we stood our ground. The opposite threat lasted few minutes till they returned the ball back to us.
With this short story of mine, I think the bullied should start speaking up(sóró sóké) facing their fears and they should always report the bullies to higher authority without being scared. And also, there should be a severe punishment for the bullies.
That way, we can eradicate the bullies in the community nor society.
