Hello, hivers!
For today's post, I have another model kit review video. This is a review of an HO scale model railroad kit for a Milwaukee Road rib side boxcar.
First a quick bit of history about the real boxcar that this kit copies. These boxcars were built by the Milwaukee Road in their own shops in west Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 1939 to 1949. There were several variations of these cars built over the 10 year period of their construction, including both 50 foot long boxcars and 40 foot long boxcars. The boxcars were built in single door versions, and also in double door versions. They also built a number of rib side cabooses during this time.
This model represents one of the earlier type rib side single door boxcars. The Milwaukee Road built a total of 10,540 single door rib side boxcars in several batches over the 10 year period in which they were built. These cars, and the longer rib side boxcars saw use right through the 1970s and into the 1980s.
The kit that I review in this video is manufactured by Accurail, a well known manufacturer of HO scale model railroad freight car kits. Accurail's kits are well detailed and most of their kits are easy to build.
Thanks for checking out my model railroad kit review. I hope you found it interesting.
