PROLOG

If you have space in your garden, a plant that you must plant is coconut. Coconut fruit has many benefits, from making fresh drinks, to coconut milk as a delicious food ingredient, and as natural medicine.

Luckily, I have a coconut tree in my garden. Since childhood, my father has planted the coconut tree and then fruited five years later since the coconut was planted.

In the past, this coconut tree was still short and had a lot of fruit so that I could take my own coconut only with a short pole. I began to be able to enjoy coconut fruit and take it myself since I was in junior high school.

Now I have to use a high and heavy pole to be able to take the coconut.

Come on, let me show you my process of making Fresh Young Coconut Drink. I will also discuss the benefits of this fruit for natural medicine and food ingredients.

Fresh Young Coconut Drink

As a tropical country, young coconut is the right choice to make a fresh and beneficial drink for your body without side effects even if you enjoy it every day.

You must carefully choose the right coconut to get a satisfying young coconut drink with sweet water and soft-textured coconut meat.

Light green with a smooth surface without brown spots indicates that the coconut is still young. One more thing, coconut won't be heard if you shake coconut.

In the condition of the coconut which is in the middle between young and old, the green color of the coconut skin will turn brownish green. Coconut meat becomes thick. And if you get the condition of coconut with this mid condition, coconut meat has thickened and coconut water becomes stronger like soda. Even though it still feels like young coconut, containing fruit that is not heard when shaken, coconut like this is no longer good when used as a young coconut drink.

If you are used to it, you will have a strong instinct to distinguish between the right coconut to find the right young coconut to make fresh Young Coconut Drinks!

Let's see what I got from my garden!

I have succeeded in dropping a young coconut. The surface of the skin is smooth and if this fruit is shaken it doesn't sound.

Next, I prepared to take the contents of this coconut. I use a traditional knife called "Parang".

First, peel the coconut in the tapered part. Avoid peeling the coconut at the base of the stem. Peel the skin until you see the coconut shell section.

To remove coconut water, break a little coconut shell at the end of the peel.

Then, after the coconut shell has managed to form a small hole, remove the coconut water and put it into a container.

After all the water has been removed, split the coconut into two parts.

Splitting a coconut is not an easy job if you don't have a sharp "machete". A thick filament makes you have to spend energy to be able to take the contents of coconut meat.

After the coconut has been split into two parts, now is the time to take coconut meat with a spoon. Taking coconut meat is done by dredging technique.

You have to slowly dredge the coconut meat so that the thin part of the brown coconut shell is not included in the coconut meat. But, do not let you leave too thick coconut meat, because that will be very detrimental.

Of course, no one would want to waste the delicacy of young coconut fruit which is often a bone of contention for these children. :)

Place the coconut meat in the same place as the coconut water so that the coconut meat tastes sweet and does not turn bland.

As a finishing touch before serving as a refreshing natural drink, I usually add a little sprinkling of salt to the young coconut drink to bind the taste to be sweeter.

You can also add ice or cool this drink in the refrigerator first before serving.

NOTE: For those of you who don't want to move the contents of the coconut into the container, and you want to directly enjoy the young coconut, you only need to make enough holes for the spoon to take part of the coconut meat.

Additional Components of Young Coconut Drinks in The Culinary Industry

Coconut drinks have always been a mainstay drink in every culinary industry in various restaurants, cafes, and small stalls on street food.

Usually, young coconut drinks are mixed with additional components to add selling value because the variety of tastes is more delicious.

The following are some of the young coconut variations that I enjoy in some of the restaurants that I have visited.

Iced Young Coconut With Cocopandan syrup.

Iced Young Coconut With Melon syrup and Melon slices, then garnish with mint leaves.

Iced Young Coconut with orange juice. The overall taste becomes fresher because it is dominated by oranges and the coconut water is no longer felt.

As A Natural Medicine

A glass of Young Coconut Drink turned out to be not only refreshing but also able to become powerful natural healing.

Some of the things I explained in the next point are part of my own experience and effective with my body. In addition, to strengthen my opinion, I have carried out a literature review to further strengthen my argument.

1.As Traditional Healing for Urticaria

Urticaria will experience itching and pain when the body is exposed to wind or water. In fact, if not treated immediately, spots will appear around the eyes which can then cause serious swelling, the effect is very dangerous.

Drinking pure coconut water without any mixture will cure Urticaria. Drink pure coconut water without mixing as often as possible while Urticaria to speed up the healing process.

NOTE: We recommend that you drink coconut water when there are signs of Urticaria. If within two days of drinking coconut water there is no improving effect that you feel, you should consult your doctor. During this time, how to cure Urticaria with coconut water worked for me.

2.Treatment For Chickenpox

Chickenpox normally only occurs once a lifetime. Usually attacks children and adolescents. Chickenpox will increasingly take a long time for the healing process if the spots containing the water do not come out at once.

Drinking coconut water when a sign of chickenpox begins to appear will speed up the removal of water spots on the body, which will then speed up the healing process for the process of drying the broken spots.

3.As a Healing For Menstrual Cramps

Menstrual cramps are of course very painful for women every month. Drinking young coconut water during menstruation will help facilitate menstruation so that it will reduce pain during menstruation.

4.Mature coconut water to reduce blood pressure

Mature coconut water is effective for lowering blood pressure and it has proven effective for treating high blood pressure suffered by my mother.

As Food Ingredients

1.Coconut Milk

Mature coconut is used for coconut milk. Coconut milk is used as a variety of delicious food ingredients.

Indonesian society can be said to be quite intertwined with the use of coconut milk for a variety of traditional dishes and dessert making.

With the coconut trees in my house, I have a supply of coconut for coconut milk, without the need to buy it again. Moreover, nowadays it is increasingly difficult to find coconut milk and more appearance of instant coconut milk.

I am grateful that I still have a coconut tree in my house, and I can still reach the coconut when I need it to make drinks or to make coconut milk.

Not only that, but my mother also sold the coconuts to my neighbors. Of course, this is an additional income for our family. :)

If you have an abundant supply of mature coconut, you can make coconut oil. The manufacturing process does take a long time to separate the layers of oil and water.

Coconut oil has many functions for beauty and traditional treatment.

However, I recommend making coconut oil from coconut palm oil to get better properties.

Use of Shell and Coconut Fiber

In the use of large quantities, of course, coconut fibers and also coconut shells will create waste. But we can reduce waste.

Coconut shells can be made of handicrafts that are worth selling. Even when I was little, when life was still completely traditional, my family made coconut shells for household utensils. Coconut shells will be cleaned until the rough texture on the surface of the shell becomes smooth and slippery.

On the other hand, coconut shell is made of charcoal and can be crushed into compost.

For coconut fiber, you can use coconut fiber for planting media to replace the trash bag. Usually, people in my village use coir to care for orchids.

Not only that, coconut fibers can be used to make household items such as doormats, rope.

BONUS PART: HOW TO MAKE COCONUT MILK

Traditionally, to convert old coconut meat into coconut milk, traditional tools are usually used called "grated".

Because my grated coconut has been damaged, this time I will show you how to turn coconut meat into coconut milk, using a blender.

Peel the outer skin until you see a brown shell. Then, divide carefully using a machete. This is mature coconut that I have split, and you can see the water.

The older the coconut fruit, the less water will be, then usually it will turn into an embryo that is also good to eat. In Indonesia, the embryo is called "tombong kelapa or kentos"

After you succeed in dividing the coconut into two parts, then the coconut meat is gouged out with machetes.

Then, remove the tanned skin at the bottom of the coconut meat.

This is the coconut meat that is ready to be mashed using a blender. If you need coconut meat for sprinkling cakes, use a dry blender without water.

Cut the coconut meat and put it in a blender then add water according to your needs.

This is the coconut that I finished blender. Then, I filter coconut juice.

And, tadaaaaa, this is the coconut milk that I managed to make from adult coconut. This coconut milk can be used as a variety of processed cakes or delicious dishes such as curry, "curry", and "rendang", and many others.

There are so many benefits of coconut trees, right? Ranging from young fruit to mature coconut, and the skin can be useful for everyday life.

So, don't hesitate to plant coconut trees in your garden. I suggest you plant coconut with a short-trunked type so that you will more easily reach the fruit.
