an old plain T-shirt
old fabric scraps
stuffing ( you can use polyester stuffing or plastic bags)
Directions:
First, take your old T-shirt and cut a straight line across it right under the armpits. Now, cut the very bottom hem of the shirt off so that you are left with a wide loop of fabric. Lay your loop of fabric flat on your surface.
Look through your fabric scraps and find enough pieces to cover most of the front half of the loop when it is laid out flat. Arrange the pieces ( these are your appliqués! ) in a way you like on top of the loop of fabric and keep in mind not to put the pieces too close to the edge of the loop for seam-allowance. Pin all of the pieces down to the loop (do not pin all the way through both layers of the loop).
Using a sewing machine, sew on the pieces of fabric one at a time (do not sew through both layers of the loop).
Turn the loop inside-out and smooth it down to where all of the appliqués are on the same side. Sew one edge all the way across, sew the other edge with enough room open to turn right-side out. Turn the pillow inside-out and stuff ( I used plastic bag pieces for stuffing). Carefully sew shut the edge used to turn it inside-out.
